I'm also posting this in careers & employment, but I know this is probably the most read forum.

Alpha Sigma Alpha National Sorority is accepting applications and recommendations for the position of executive director. The executive director is a vital team member in furthering the sorority’s mission and purpose. Alpha Sigma Alpha strives to develop women of poise and purpose and provides structure and guidance through sisterhood, heritage, and opportunities for leadership and involvement in the chapter, on campus and in the community.

Alpha Sigma Alpha National Headquarters is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, which also serves as the home for many members of the Greek community. Alpha Sigma Alpha is supported by hundreds of national volunteers and employs 12 staff members. The sorority works in partnership with the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation which supports the Sorority's educational and leadership programs, offers academic scholarships, and sustains the philanthropic endeavors of the sorority._

The executive director supervises staff, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the sorority and reports directly to the National Council. Applicants must have the ability to manage multiple priorities, have initiative and stamina, possess a high level of standards, be able to motivate and lead individuals and groups, and have the ability to work effectively with staff and volunteers._

Applicants should possess the following professional qualifications: demonstrated managerial and financial experience, excellent organizational and communication skills, proficient usage of computer technology, and a commitment to the purpose of Alpha Sigma Alpha. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a business related area is required. A seasoned professional with a minimum of five years management and operations or finance experience in either a nonprofit or small business corporate environment is preferred. Membership in Alpha Sigma Alpha is desirable, but not a requirement. _

Applicants should submit a current resume, a letter of interest, salary requirements, and the names, addresses and contact information of five references. Individuals who want to recommend a candidate should submit a letter of recommendation including the person’s name, contact information and reason for recommendation. Thumbs up

silverturtle, I wish to place my hat into the ring!

While I am a male, I beleive, that from from my expereince as a member of a Major Greek Org. I can give some insight as to what must and need to be done for the Betterment of any Greek Organization!

LXA wanted a Superman to be the New CEO of which, if nothing else, I have the Love and Drive for the Job, what they want is Impossible.

While this may seem flipant, it is not!

Other than my little Business, There is No Greater Love than seeing the Greeks as we know, Help and Make them Grow!

Whether it be a Fraternity or a Soroity, it makes no difference. There has been and will always be help via each Orgainization!

Please do not feel that I am making light of this as I am not!

But would be an interesting point would it not?

Angry

Hey!

With over 1.5 Million people, Indianapolis is the 12th largest city in the United States.

While it does not match up to the flare of cities like New York or Los Angeles, it isnt "red neck metropolis" that the media can sometimes make it out to be.

If you are really interested in the job, I would reccomend visiting Indianapolis, it wont be as bad as you think.

And if you do get the job, colonize Alpha Sigma Alpha at IU!

xp2k- no one said anything bad about Indianapolis!!!!!!!!! I think you jumped the gun there and overreacted.

33girl is just a hard core Pittsburgh who seems to love her town (I'm from Pittsburgh as well and love it too). Primanti's is a famous Pittsburgh restaurant.

Amen Danielle. This is home - I can't imagine ever living anywhere else, except maybe New Orleans. xp2k, if you had a Primanti's sandwich, you would understand. I would mail you one but they are somewhat messy LOL.

33girl

Sorry, knew the red "angry" face would be a bit much.

I wasnt SUPER angry, I just get a little touchy when people think Indiana is so country...it really isnt

As for Pittsburgh, I love the place, I spent a few summers there.

Its a clean, beautiful city, and its similar to Indy in some respects.

I love the food from PGH too...mostly polish right?

I'm from NW Indiana which also has a strong polish influence (thanks to the steel mills at the turn of the last century).

But...next time I'm in the steel city (Gary, IN is also known as the steel city...among other names), I'll have to give this Primanti sandwhich a try!

I lived in Pittsburgh (North Hills) for most of 2001 and never made it to Primanti's. Let me tell you though, it is legendary. I can't count how many people told us to try Primanti's even before we moved there!

Yes, 33girl they'd truly understand if they'd had a Primanti's sandwhich. Nothing like being there at 2:00am either!

In other news...

Good luck to ASA in your search for an Executive Director!
