Question about Songs
Hello AOIIs!!!
I'm sorry to intrude, but my mom was an AOII at Moorhead State U in Kentucky. And she vaguely remembers a song about fastening your baby's diaper with your AOII pin, but can't remember how it goes. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but it sounds like an awesome song, and I was wondering if anyone knows it? Thanks a lot!

I don't believe I've ever heard the song. My chapter never sang it. You've got me curious now so I wonder if anyone else knows it.

Oh Little Cy!
This is such a fun song! I'm going from memory here, but this is how we sang it...my apologies to any fraternity men about the use of 'frat' but I guess that's how it was originally written.
He wore his college frat pin
right above his heart
and with his college frat pin
he swore he'd never part
four long years of college
his pledge held firm and true
and he wore his college frat pin
in honor of his frat...
Ohhhhh, along came a pair of
big brown eyes
a smiling AOII
she took that college frat pin
right off that handsome guy
now they live in a bungalow
with welcome on the mat
and they pin the baby's diaper
in honor of his frat
Oh little Cy
Oh little Cy
he will go to college
one day by and by
and there is one decision
he'll make without revision
his frat pin
his frat pin
will be on AOII!
Christin

Very cute! You know, I just saw out on ebay an AOII Record LP that had a bunch of songs recorded by AOII sisters in 1960, and what do you know if that song, "Little Cy", wasn't one of the song titles on it. It had about 25 songs on it, and I didn't really recognize any of the song titles. I would have loved to have heard that record but I don't have any equipment anymore to be able to play it so I didn't bid on it!

I saw that! Also bid on it but it got to pricey for me, the winning bid was $62.21!!! I sure hope another AOII won it though!

I know - we desperately needed that album for the CD that they're trying to put together - I bid on it 30 seconds to close and it shot up to $62.
Cristin - could you sing that song for us somehow, I'm sure Monica Ramey hasn't gotten it yet for the CD.

Hmmm, well I can sing it for you at Convention next summer if you'd like Be warned, I sing in the key of "me" (aka, very poorly!)

Christin,
Teach it to me on Saturday and we'll record it!! OR teach it to me on Saturday and I'll write out the sheet music for it. Either way - I'll help out to get it into the song book.

You're a brave woman, Heidi I'll teach it to you on Saturday then, along with any other "older" songs I can think of. Does everyone know these songs, because I figure if I'm going to sing I should sing them all
AOII Clock Song
Funny Little Sunny Little Melody
Momma's Little Baby
Welcome from the AOIIs
Girl in Red, Girl in White
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome from the AOIIs
Way down Yonder
Happiness is here (It's a small world tune)
Roses,
Christin

Better you singing them than me!! I don't think I know any of these songs. I wonder if my chapter just didn't sing them or if I am losing my memory as I get older. Oh well, I'd love to hear them! I am so glad y'all are taking the time to record them for posterity. What a great way to preserve AOII's history!

I know the Funny Little Sunny Little Melody one and Way Down Yonder! If you need help with the words, just let me know.
One of my favorite serious songs was a song that went to the tune of Amy Grant's El Shaddi song
AOII, AOII We will love you til we die
Age to age you're still the same by the power of our name
AOII, AOII Sisterhood give it a try
Alpha love is stronger by and by...AOII
Through the joy and through the tears
We found our place in life was here
And through the closeness of our bond
Of lambda Chi we'll grow more fond
Though alone we could not see
What true love was meant to be
But by your light you showed me AOII was for me
AOII, AOII we will love you til we die
Age to age you're still the same
By the power of our name
AOII, AOII sisterhood give it a try
Alpha love is stronger by and by, AOII

Please keep posting the songs! I'd love to hear all of them! Thank you for sharing a part of AOTT, I'm a collegiate member and I've never heard any of these songs. I think my chapter honestly has 3 songs that we sing!

Yikes! Only 3 songs? I'll guess you do sing the Epsilon Song? A Rose Ever Blooming? Alpha Rose? Linger? Remember (any version)?
When is the updated songbook scheduled to be published?
Roses,
Christin
