Cool things you hear and see on TV

I love it when I see or hear things that represent Kappa Alpha Theta (Theta's). Just the other night we were watching Father of the Bride and his front drive has Pansies (our flower) all down the path. I also love to go to disney becasue Walt Disney's daughter was a Theta and the song Let's go Fly a Kite was written for her. If you didn't know Kites are also one of our symbles. Another is some of the songs sung by Sherl Crow (who was a Theta) represents our sorority.

Something else that I love is when someone says something that is in our ritual that only we know and its something that if your in a class or if you see something like a Kite flying in the wind it remids you of all you wonderful sisters and the vows you took during initiation.

know what you mean

It is great when you see reminders on tv, etc. The movie Steel Magnolias is all about a real life Phi Mu and there's so much in the movie that relates, such as the fact she loves pink, one of our colors, to the composite in the background of a scene and badge she wears are all Phi Mu.

It's the little stuff that only members would know that makes times so much fun, so I know exactly what you mean!

The Little Mermaid was written by a ZTA. Our colors and symbols are in the movie. Some of our secrets are also in it.

Allegedly there is a Theta Chi badge in the tank scene of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

It is not very common but many times I see panda stuffed animals on TV or in movies and it reminds me of AOII. Full House used to have a HUGE panda that was usually in the living room or in the girls room. It is still cool to see it in the re-runs since I was just a little kid when I loved that show and didn't know about AOII or how much pandas would mean to me! Roses are more common and one restaruant in town here always has BEAUTIFUL, fresh roses on their hostess stand it makes me smile everytime I walk in there!

I can't wait for Ice Age--The Movie.

I know he probably has nothing to do with AGD, but Scrat the Squirrel's sure to make everyone laugh.

I dunno, there have been a wealth of squirrel commecials popping up! I wonder if some of those advertising people are AGDs! I also see red and yellow roses in a lot of movies, tv shows, and commercials as well.

Unicorns are our mascot and the lovely purple iris is our flower so whenever I see either on a card or wrapping paper or gift bag, I try to buy it. Our colors are royal purple and pure gold which are the same colors as the L.A. Lakers. Although I love their colors, I'm still a loyal New York fan!
One of our alumnae started Blue Mountains greeting cards so I used to send those e-mail cards out until they started to charge a fee.

theta

Another place to look for theta symbols is in Amy Grant songs, she was a theta as well. Sheryl was the song chair here at MU way back in her day can you imagine getting serenaded by her?

I love that movie. Guess it shouldn't be a surprise that my boyfriend's dog's name was ariel...

Since Dr. Suess's wife was a Sigma Kappa, there are quite a few of our secrets in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and in the movie, Mystic Pizza. I've also heard that there are quite a few Theta Chi secrets in all of Steven Spilberg (I know I spelled that wrong) movies, b/c he is a OX. (Thanks to my boyfriend and his brothers for that piece of knowledge.) It sucks watching his movies with him and they will make a comment about something, but then won't tell me what it is or even where it was it the movie.

Georgia O'Keefe was a KD, which is one of the reasons she painted a lot of white roses. Suzy Spatford (Suzy's Zoo) also designed a mascot just for us. And we've also got the rappin' Granny from the Wedding Singer...watching that movie was never the same once I found out she was my sister!
