Roommate harrassed by an AOPi

Sorry to crash your forum, but I need to ask your opinion. My roommate has received some harrassing phone calls from a girl on our campus who happens to be an AOPi. Everyone else I've met from the chapter are absolutely wonderful, and they do such a wonderful job here for their philanthropy and for our Greek system as a whole. They're a great group of girls, and I have a very high opinion of them. The girl that has been harrassing her has never personally met her. She's a friend of my roommate's boyfriend's ex-girlfriend who has taken it apon herself to leave several obscene voice mails on my roommate's cell phone and calls our house several times a day. This has been continuing for several days, and my roommate wants it to stop. She asked if she should contact the chapter, as this is a girl who starts every conversation with, "My name is --- and I'm an AOPi", but I told her to hold off. How should this be handled? Am I right in thinking that she shouldn't go to her chapter but find another way to handle it?

I am not exactly sure what you should do in terms of her being an AOPi but the authorities definitely need to know about this!!! This is horrible behavior for anyone, let alone someone who represents a group as a whole. AOPi may want to know about this as it does reflect on their chapter.

She should contact the school (I guess the right person would be the Dean of Students). I don't know what, if anything, the chapter could do to this girl without the proper avenues having been gone through. The most they could possibly do is to tell her to stop, but the school can impose sanctions on her.

I hope she saved the messages. If so, I'd report them to the authorities and then to the Chapter's President. If she's using her letters in her threats then that reflects on the chapter (in no way do I mean by reputation, but the fact that their letters are being used). This girl should realize that her actions are harassing and can get her into trouble. One hopes she doesn't handle all conflicts this way!

You definitely should contact another AOII. She should be taken to CR. It is so sad that there are so many girls out there who do not uphold the standards of alpha omicron pi. Our founders were so brilliant with everything they did and wrote. IT is a slap in the face to our founders when behavior like this takes place. I am so sorry that an AOII has acted in such a manner towards your roommate.

Thought I'd let ya'll know -

My roommate went to Greek Life and let the Greek Advisor hear the messages, who in turn contacted the AOPi chapter at our school. The harrassment stopped immediately. All of the other girl I've ever met here are wonderful. They did a great job this year with their arthritis barbecue! I was so impressed.
