Military email??? help!!!!

I have mentioned before--my brother has been shipped out-- and is somewhere he cannot tell us.... (i'll give you one guess where that might be).

Well he emailed me the other day-- just to say hi and everything is fine. Also told me he is not allowed a lot of email on the military account--that is fine--just means we won't email 100 times a day -- but I was not expecting that with him away.

Anyway--for the past 3 days everytime I send an email it bounces back--says mail server is down or unavailable. Does anyone else send to a military address--and if so, are you having problems???

Thanks,
wendi

I used to have that same problem when my ex was deployed and I'm getting the same messages now.

I don't know if this is true or not, but sometimes ships and other places intentionally disable their email, especially when something 'big' is going on wherever they're at. Military personnel do that so that it won't compromise their location or whatever action is being taken.

Other times it could be that the server's being flooded with emails.

The use of e-mail for the troops is a great morale booster, especially for those serving overseas but there are times where military communications traffic take priority. The unit or installation commander can impose "MINIMIZE" restrictions to maintain communications and operational security of their unit.

Morale e-mail is generally transmitted as 'ROUTINE', which takes a back seat to higher-priority message traffic classified PRIORITY, OPERATIONAL IMMEDIATE or FLASH, in their respective levels of increasing importance.

It's also possible that his unit may be on the move, and thus unable to communicate for security reasons.

He'll more than likely have the opportunity to e-mail you again as soon as operational conditions permit.
