Lightbulb Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

I'm doing a study on House food, hopefully leading to a book, tentively titled Fraternity Food: Undergraduate House Eating Habits ...
I'd really like to know about the meals in your House! What's really great about them? WHat's really gross ? What's your House Cook like? Does he live in, or only come to make dinner? How many meals a week does your House serve, and what's your appoximate weekly food budget?
What do you wish your food was like; i.e. what's the perfect Fraternity dinner? Anything you can tell me about your House's eating habits would be most appreciated!
(I'm not leaving out the Sororities, but it's generally accepted as truth that your food is a LOT better than the gentlemen get...)
Thank for your input in advance, guys...

Our house cook is phenomenal! I eat better at school than I do at home ( that's only slightly exagerrated).

We have a ten meal plan during the week. Lunch and Dinner Monday through Thursday (including a formal dinner on Monday night...usually something a little bit more fancy such as prime rib, chicken breast, pork, or ham). Friday there is a hot breakfast and lunch.

We don't usually have anything gross, but there are a couple of things that I don't eat out of personal taste. I don't particularly like when we have barbeque, but that is due to the fact that I'm kind of a barbeque snob since I'm originally from Kansas City which is bbq capital of the Universe. I'm also not big on the chicken soft tacos/fajitas but I usually don't like those anyway. I know of nothing that the entire chapter dislikes - though we do get tired of eating chicken for formal dinner, but everyone still usually eats it.

The one thing that I don't touch is chicken wings b/c I only ever wings from hooters or two resteraunts in KC. And usually the wings are made on friday and they sit around for hours at a time.

Our cook is the nicest lady I'v ever met. She has told me often that she loves her job b/c we are all so nice and so fun to be around all day. She usually comes in about 830ish monday through thursday and earlier on Friday so that she can make the hot breakfast, and also put away her order that usually comes that morning.
Not only is she so nice but she makes killer food with the exception (IMHO) of the things I've mentioned. She does a great job using mixes and processed food to stay on her budget. That is the one thing that is less than desireable is that a lot of the stuff is from a box or mix rather than homemade, but when your making food for 60 guys you have to do it that way. She does make some things from scratch that are amazing. One thing she does once a semester is make homemade runzas (stuffed pockets of ground beef, cabbage, spices and sometimes cheese...they are something that is entirely a Nebraska thing...there is actually a fast food chain devoted to providing the citizenry with runzas.) She also makes some really good desserts.

I'm not sure what the food budget is. But for a live out a meal plan is like $400 more than normal live out fees per semester.

I can't say what the perfect fraternity dinner is b/c I'm big on variety. My family was never one to say that monday was taco night and thursday was for spaghetti, so I enjoy a lot of variety. But I know what my favorite meal is: runzas (but this is probably b/c we don't get the homemade runzas that often), french fries, a salad, and this choclatey/oatmeal/gooey dessert that we had last week for the first time.

Hope this helps! If you need something more in depth let me know!

William2003, you already started a house meals thread in this forum. We really don't need two.

Hmm, food... yea... coming from a small N.E. school with a small greek system... we do not have cooks in our houses. You either make your own food or eat on campus. We also clean our own place... some orgs dont even have houses. Yep. Go us.
