Good buddy getting initiated
Have any of you all ever been really good friends with someone and they joined your chapter? A good friend of mine is getting initiated next week and I am really excited about it. I have known him for a few years and he worked his ass off to join the chapter, and its been a great thing for him. I haven’t been this excited for a ritual in a few years. I would like to get him something to commemorate it. We already have a tradition for paddles in the chapter, as well as for lettershirts. What could I get him to commemorate us becoming brothers. I’d like to recognize it somehow. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Any cool stories to share about your friends going through?

I like Tom's idea of the Cross and Crescent (Recognition) pin.
They're hard to find, unique, and look good on jackets.
You also might get one of the copies of the coat of arms, and write a special message.
It's always great to have a good friend go through Ritual!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Tom - Its chapter tradition that you big buys the little his first badge, and all the brothers who are present at rit sign a coat of arms for the brother. Letters are given by the big, and the littles give the big a paddle.
I do like the idea of a flask or mug.
Keep the ideas coming.
Thanks.

I like the flask/mug idea. If he's a coffee drinker, how about an engraved travel mug?
You could still give him letters - one can never have too many letters
Or an engraved picture frame - give it to him after initiation, then take a picture to go in it. Or, if your org gives certificates to new initiates, get him a frame for his certificate.

Kinda funny, he wants a tatoo. lol. I think I am goign to get hima flask. Thos ealways coem in handy at formals, etc.
It went rerally well tho, and am glad to now call him a brother. I normally get a little emotional at ritual, but got more so this time as my buddy actually centuried my other good friend who was killed in a car wreck in 2001. When I found out that they were century brothers (Same initiation number, just off by 100, ex. Edward was 223, Austin is 323.) Itr made it that much more cool.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Can always count on yall.
