Erik P Conard
I notice he hasn't posted since Nov. 15.
I guess he's been smoozing the Grand Tekes, and ignoring his GC fans.

Erik lives. ..kinda
Just have not had much to say. Noted TKE Golden Book sold on E-Bay for over $500, had many old signatures of past poobahs, this book probably stolen from Alpha chapter.
TKE colonizing at U of CO. Greek graveyard, kinda sorry. Are
there any campi near you which have many dead chapters? It is
interesting to note, most are places who have no advisors or who have non-Greek "liaison" administrators. Some campus
systems have more dead than alive....we could turn that around
as Greek revival in offing. Fun, too, so get busy! Happy New Year from old Denver codger! YITB, Erik

Good to hear from you Erik! Hopefully a TKE got the book, but you never know with all those wierdos that buy things for profit or just collect other fraternties and sororities historic items.

TKE Golden Book on E-Bay
Frater Walt Jenny, Province Poobah for Oklahoma, was the
winner of the Golden Book, a unique tome in Teke history.
There were several TKEs bidding on it, and it now has a good
home. YITB, Erik of Denver

TKE 100th Anniv. book
Grand Grammateus Mark Fite is in charge of the 100th anniv.
history of TKE. He did have me proof the 50s section, since that
was "my" time. Press of business has delayed Mark in the completion, but I am sure it will get finished. YITB, Erik

$500 Golden Book?
"Noted TKE Golden Book sold on E-Bay for over $500, had many old signatures of past poobahs, this book probably stolen from Alpha chapter. "
I had one of these autographed books once, given to me by RC Williams, along with his collection of Bairds and a few bound volumes of THE TEKE.
I think I shipped it all to Indpls - maybe they are selling them to raise funds.
It surprising what passes thru your hands that later is valuable.

"Golden" Book
The so-called Golden Book of TKE, done in '49 to celebrate the
50th year of our Fraternity, was bound in red, EXCEPT a few
which Pete Leland did in gold covers. Most of these, I was told,
went to the Grand Council and Past Grand Prytani. The only one
I ever saw was owned by Dick Hall, and had a great many of the
old signatures in it. I was told Hall was blotto one night whilst
visiting Zeta Iota (Canadian Alpha) and he gave his to the chapter in Winnipeg--now dead. It was a true treasure.
But I would think the copy you got from Ralph Chester "Doc"
Williams was a gold one...dunno...
My Golden Book has 166 signatures in it, signed my a goodly
number of Teke leaders over the years. I still have mine.
Each TKE chapter was given a red Golden Book and each chartering after 1949 was replete with a donation of a TKE
Golden Book to the college library, so I would guess there are
a lot of them around, languishing in libraries where drinkers do
not darken. The supply was likely exhaused in the 60s.
At any rate, the late Jim Kane told me, shortly before his death
that the "archives" in Indy was in shambles, the files mostly were trashed and the memorabilia scattered. The Grand Grammateus, Mark Fite, has tried to retrieve some of it, but for
about twenty years, this stuff was neglected, as was TKE.

Teke Guide
Wish I still had the "gold" Golden Book.
I do have a few copies of the "real" hardbound Teke Guide that Bill Muse wrote. I wanted to get one to him to sign for the Auburn chapter while he was pres there, but it didn't happen.
