Person(s) of the Year
So Time Magazine released their "Persons of the Year" today. They named the three women who were "the whistleblowers" in the Enron/Worldcom scandals. The person of the year is supposed to be the most influential person of that particular year, whether they are believed to be "good" in the public’s eye or not. This is the second year in a row that I believe Time has been entirely off base. Last year Rudy Giuliani was chosen as the p.o.t.y. While Giuliani was very influential in the aftermath of 9/11, his influence was the direct result of somebody else’s decision. So while it may not hold well with the American public I personally believe Osama Bin Ladin was probably the most influential man of last year. As for this year, while the fall of these two giant companies was monstrously influential in the American economy, I would personally think that the war in Afghanistan as well as the gear up for war in Iraq probably had more impact on American society. Therefore as much as it pains me to say this, George W Bush was probably the man i would have chosen, followed closely by Saddam. But that’s just my opinion, what do you think? Do you agree with Time?
