gals r funnier than guys
in my experience of 28yrs as a girl, it has occurred to me (none too little) that my girls friends r so much more wittier and interesting to talk to than my friends who r guys. and its not "coz i'm a sexist pig".
from an objective point of view, girls r more interesting, and guys tend to talk about cars and silly jokes.

I beg to differ...
I would have to say my guy friends are way funnier. Plus, they are offended less than my female friends, for the most part.

No offense, but I've never met a girl who was really funny. I mean, yeah, I would laugh at jokes by them just so I wouldn't make them feel bad but the funniest people I've known are all guys.
Even women comedians are unfunny. Margaret Cho? lol. Horrible.

I'm going to have to agree with the other guys here. The majority of guys I know seem to be much wittier than the girls I know who worry predominately about frivolous stuff. And as for celebrities, why don't we see more women talk show hosts if women are funnier? Jon Stewart & David Letterman are some of the funniest and wittiest men on TV

If you share a sense of humor with another, THAT person, no matter the sex, will bring you to tears. You get a bunch of girls together and they get on a "roll", the humor is incomparable.
Guys seem more open and tend to say things more freely, but sometimes it's the unexpected comment from a woman that knocks you for a loop. You don't know what funny is till you unleash a Southern Belle! I see it as comparing quality with quantity.
Prior to wedded bliss I'll agree, I had more fun and laughter IN GENERAL around the guys. However, some of the most memorable moments of humor were ALWAYS female related.
I get a kick out of male comedians too, yet anyone who can tag your innermost thoughts will seem the "wittiest". Woman to woman will always seem funnier to me than a man because the jokes come from MY perspective rather than the old-"Take my wife.......PLEASE!"
"Girls' Night Out" had some outstanding comedians.

I'd have to say that I'm probably the funniest woman a LOT of my friends have ever met, because I am a very quick thinker, can turn anything into a double entendre, know current affairs, and am basically smart. I AM FUNNY! But, I find that I can "spar" jokewise with my male friends, and I find that my female friends like me to entertain and be funny. SO, it depends, actually. Some women I know are too afraid to be controversial, some men don't "get" my humor, and that's atrributed to the fact that they really aren't that smart or they get nervous around me (too busy trying to top me! DON'T EVEN BOTHER BUD!).....
One more thing, I grew up in a funny household. My parents were always encouraging us to laugh, and make jokes. We always made up our own games and such. We are a funny ass family too! So, if you grew up in a household that didn't massage that funny bone, you don't develop it. It's really a talent that needs to be nurtured from a young age!

I find guys and gals equally as funny, just in different ways. Women tend to be more PC in their humor, while men tend to be less PC.
I hope I don't offend, but I also notice that black and white people tend to have different sense of humors.

This is actually true, and I'd like to explore why. I know that I don't actually find the things other black people find funny, very funny. I relate more to a comic's style than their race. my fave comedians are Brian Reagan and Mitch Hedberg. My fave comediennes are Margaret Cho and janeane Garafalo...

I think it has a lot to do with relation, perception, and experience of your culture and gender. Personally, as with men and women, I also find black and white people to be equally as funny, but in different ways.

Never gave this much thought...until now.
All of you have some really good points.
Let me try this theory out on you. I say theory, because I'm not sure it's true...
Right now, I'm thinking that both sexes can be equally funny, but there are more "outwardly" funny men than women. Maybe men are less inhibited when it comes to comedy -- and I'm not talking about PC here -- just the propencity for wise cracks, etc.
What do you think?

Naaaaawwww, you're not a 'sexist pig' - you simply make blanket statements and sweeping generalities to support your point, which makes you a 'poor forensic thinker'
My guy friends are, to me, far funnier than my female friends, most likely because we share a common sense of humor.
For an example, see the legendary [deleted] "horrible jokes" thread . . . so funny to those who posted, so not-funny to some.

In your 28 years of expereince you have conjured up one hell of a stereotype.
