LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Actor-comedian Cedric the Entertainer will emcee the 2002 Billboard Music Awards on Dec. 9, event organizers said Monday.
Now in its 13th year, the awards show recognizes the year's top artists and songs as determined by sales and radio play. Fox will broadcast the show from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Cher will be honored with an Artist Achievement Award for her more than three decades in music, a career that includes five No. 1 singles and 32 Top 10 hits.
Artists scheduled to perform on the telecast include Avril Lavigne (news), Creed, Faith Hill (news), Justin Timberlake (news), Nelly and Puddle of Mudd.
Cedric the Entertainer starred in the recent hit film "Barbershop" and "The Original Kings of Comedy." He currently stars on Fox's television comedy "Cedric the Entertainer Presents."
