Chapter Visiting

How could we get this started among the chapters? I know that some chapters in our region don't really like us because they don't really know us.

I think that's how all of the big sororities like Chi O and A D Pi get on almost every campus in the U.S. because they had such great sisterhood.

Wonder what would happen if we started doing that. . .

i agree with you...
i've only ever visited one other chapter and that was for business stuff(vision, founder's day, recruitment retreat)....never on a social basis.
I don't know the last time my chapter did a road trip since it was well before my time....i used to be a bit jealous of DZ cuz they would go on road trips and show us pics of their other sisters...

and i know what you mean about not knowing each other....my first impression of one fellow chapter was not good (i thought they were snobbish), but then i talked to them, and saw them at LTS and other events so I knew I was wrong....but not every sister gets the same opportunity to get to know other sisters...

I say to get it started, you could A) just pack up in the car and show up at their doorstep! or B) invite them to something informal in your area...like you're all going to such-and-such show or place, come with us...

I say just call them up, and GO !!! I mean, what else is to it ? If the other chapter isn't receptive that's their fault, but if you take the initiative to call their pres. or E mail or something and maybe plan to go when they are having social or something I don't see how they could say no don't come visit our chapter... Also I think we need to make sure there is time to socialize and do maybe an ice breaker event or at least not all sit with our chapter sisters at events like founder's day and division conference. I know at our founder's day it was all business... and we all sat within our chapters and I kinda felt like what was the point in driving out to do this with the other chapters when we didn't even really talk to them that much ??

Let me tell you the best way to get involved with other chapters....this site itself! See if there are sisters among your area on this board. Set up a place and time (like the mall for shopping or for lunch) between the two (or more) of you, and compare schedules. Then, take the idea back to your chapter and set up future sisterhood events together. That's what my chapter did with the Gamma Pi ladies of UMBC. I am now best of friends with majority of these ladies, and both of our chapters are incredibly comfortable with each other when we see each other at random places. It might sound simple and dumb, but it works so well And if the chapters really like each other, consider setting up socials with the same fraternities. Just my $0.02. Have a GREAT weekend.
