Good Greek Rush resources?
What up everyone...
As the rush chairman for Sigma Pi at Santa Clara, I have been burdened with the task of developing all of the rush programming for the entire Greek system this year. Besides programming my own chapter's rush, I have to coordinate all of the timing, scheduling, and activities for most of the other chapters as well. I have done most of the work already for January's rush, but I was hoping someone could recommend some good Greek Rush resources for me. Specifically, I need literature talking about the advantages of going Greek, famous Greeks, Greek life statistics, etc. I don't need GLO-specific resources, but rather information that supports the entire Greek lifestyle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

USC does a really awesome cd-rom that they send out to all incoming freshman that talks about the advantages to going greek, has info on every house on campus, what, when, and where the rush activities will occur, has a latter to parents, and a list of famous greeks. Greek 101.com put it together for them and paid for a good portion of it. You should look into that website to see how they did that. Also, you could contact Beth Saul, she is the director of Greek Life at USC. In addition to the cd-rom, she sends out a sorority brochure, and a letter from the president of the university encouraging students to go Greek. Her office email address is gogreek@usc.edu.

The NIC (National Interfraternity Conference) should be able to offer you some printed materials to distribute. If you want to increase the number of greeks on campus, then contact strong nationals not represented at Santa Clara, and invite them to colonize.
If I were you, I'd e-mail every national and ask them for their best ideas for promoting Greeks on campus. In the end, the fraternities will succeed in rush is they are aggressive and go after lots of prospects.

Maybe I can help a little... I'm a student assistant to my campuses "Greek Advisor" (I put that in parentheses because it isn't his actual title, he just has to assume the role and is doing a damn good job of it!), and part of my responsibilities have included helping plan IFC rush and promoting Greek life.
I can check some of the brochures, pamphlets, and other stuff we have in my office and get back to you with how to get that information at your university. You should also check out Greek101.com like chloe173 suggested. The CD-Rom is a great marketing tool, but it can get pricey- we did one this year for IFC and Panhellenic and it wasn't all that was promised, but it was still really nice. Basically, Greek101.com designs it and has their name ALL OVER IT, and it's your responsibility to find a way to pay for it. If you can find local sponsors, that's the best way to go. Otherwise, consider asking the chapters on campus to fork over a portion of the money in exchange for appearing on the CD-Rom. That's what we all had to do.
Email or PM me if you want me to get any information for you. I'd be glad to help out!
Carol
