To Lil_G
Hi! I read somewhere that you're a Sociology/Criminology major. I'm in a Sociology class in HS, and I was wondering if we could email, b/c I would love to talk with a fellow Sociology student!!! Thanks!
P.S. We're doing a Prison project...where we get to make our own Prison system (like who goes to prison...and how they are punished)...very Interesting!

Hahahahhaha a student who likes sociology, what's going on? j/k....
Sure if you want to email me, send me a message to my address in my profile and i'll respond back via email with my main address. Some parts of sociology were a lot better than others, the historical content (e.g. Weber) was absolutely terrible. Maybe it was just the prof, but spending 3 hours straight lecture on the imporance of value judgements put the whole class to sleep. I really enjoyed the anthroplogy courses that i've taken, and the qualitative/quantitative courses were enjoyable.
That project sounds like an excellent idea! Wow, I can't believe a high school has such a defined and complex project...that would be a lot of fun, keep me posted on that
I seriously have to get back to this soc essay due monday, I shot down a tri delt gathering and a night out with the bros to do this...
Nick.

Cool, thanks Nick!!
Haha, you know what though? My teacher, who majored in Sociology herself, is hella cool...she doesn't really go into historical detail...yeah, she does tell us the theories and stuff, but she mostly focuses on Experiments so we can see for ourselves!!
I took a Psych class from her, too, last semester...and it was mostly experiments too . She said so herself that some of the Soc theories are really boring, LOL...so she's gonna let us do "hands-on-learning." We did a Dead STudent project!! It was sad...a couple of us played "dead"--and we really did look dead! We stationed ourselves throughout the school...about 200 females and males passed by, only TEN came to stop and see if the "dead" people were ok. It's sad--they really did look dead...some passerbys wanted to MUG the dead student! Some stepped OVER them to get to the vending machine...and one teacher saw the "dead' student--and replied, "Oh--him? He's not my student...he doesn't concern me." That story was a feature in our newspaper!
K, I look forward to emailing you!! Good luck on the project!!!!!!!!!1 I definitely will tell you more about the prison project, LOL...I'll also tell you about my teacher's experiences in visting a prison...very scary...

Nick--you know what?! I got an A+ on that prison project!!!!!!! yay! thanks for helping me with the theories/ideas and such! she really liked myproject and said she esp. liked my punishments (LOL) and my explanations of the Power Deviance Theories and why I like Retribution+Rehabilitation.
PLUS...good news! I just took my final today...and I totally ACED that thing! only bad news is that I took a big chem test too today and i changed my answer last-minute (which was right in the first place ), and for THAT I lose 20 points alone...how frustrating!!! (remember what I told you about that teacher I have??! he's so not understanding, at least till now he hasn't been, ) .
Call me weird...but I really like Soc . I was actually reading my book yesterday (haha, i rarely read textbooks unless it's a test or something...) in prep for the final, and for once, it was actually INTERESTING!! I totally could relate to what they were talking about...and I'm seriously considering majoring in Soc ! Usu. I fall asleep when reading any type of textbook .
Well..I'm off to go study again...I will talk to you soon via e-mail in beg. of June! Thanks again for helping! Love, newbie

Congratulations! With grades like that, maybe I should be getting help from you instead of the other way around.
Soc actually isn't that bad, especially if you enjoy it. You'll find some parts more interesting than others. Whatever your major is next year, you can always take electives on a lot of different subjects. Who knows you may find out that you really like anthroplogy or commerce, or you may stick with soc if you're breezing through it.
You must be almost finished soon, how many days do you have left?
Good luck on your finals sweetie -
Lates, Nick.

Thanks Nick, you're such a sweetheart!! You will probably end up helping me more though in the future if I end up majoring in it... (if you're up to it!) I have to admit, some of the theories didn't make sense! Luckily, the teacher skipped over some which she thought was just too complicated .
I am LOVING soc...weird, huh?! BTW, since we are finished with finals and such in Soc, we are now watching a movie w/Ben Affleck (*dreamy sigh*...haha, I'm in love with him ) and Matt Damon in it...forgot what the movie is called, but it's about religion and such. It's a funny comedy, but I don't really like it (really gory and nasty). (Oh--it's def. not Good Will Hunting ) PErsonally--i don't know how it relates to Soc, though it does talk about Relgiion.
I will talk to you more, soon! I am so pissed off b/c I found out that I messed up badly on my Chem Test. So i really gotta redeem myself by way of finals . The big week is this coming week--loads of papers due, and FINALS. Finals are on Thurs and Friday for me...I'm lucky tho b/c I have no finals next-next Monday--I'll be done fnially!! Woo-hoo!!
I'm prolly just gonna skip the last 3 days after next-next Tuesday..then it's summer-time for me baby!!! Tons of partying, shopping for me after that...I will definitely be celebrating! This year has been really killer on my mood!
P.S.--have you found a job yet? or are you just sitting back and relaxing? hope you're having a great time both ways! will talk to you soon!

So everything's coming down to the wire, eh? You're chugging along very well, just keep up the pace and take it one step at a time and you'll ace your exams - and then everything will be over.
I'm sure you're not that screwed for Chem since you aced the midterm the mark will even out, right?
Dogma is a Great Movie! I watched that for the 3rd time a week ago. I started watching the replacements when about half-way through I was like ah this is terrible. So I shut it off and watched Dogma. If you like Kevin Smith and that smoochie-boochie guy, you should see Mallrats and Chasing Amy. Those guys with Jason Lee and Afflect are all in those movies, I geuss they all hang out together.
I'll let you get back to your studying, good luck!

Nick--thank you so much for your kind email. I have been listening to music, especially soft music, and everything is speaking to me, basically. Just listening to the words--and the majority of the songs tongiht is about hardship--go figure, makes me think about my Grandpa again. Unfrotuatenly, each time I think about him, I just tear up more. I do realize that fate is fate, but you know, I just don't get it why my grandpa had to go through so much, and why my mom has always had the misfortune of being on the plane right before my granpa and granma passed on. Right now--I'm just feeling so doubtful about everything, you know?
I saw an elderly man walk by tonight on the street--and he exactly looked my grandpa. The appearance, the way he walked, everything. I just gulped and tears sstarted flowing. I realize that I will never see him again until I reach heaven myself...that only my memory will serve me well. The only thing is--my memory isn't very good, b/c the last time I saw him was 3 years ago. I just am so afraid that I will forget how he looked, talked, etc. I was just reminiscing tonight about how he was so happy when he saw that my sis and I were happy...how he loved to go to the garden and take care of his "babies," the flowers...and how he always sat in his rocking chair.
Thank you again for listening, Nick--you are truly the best!!!!! I will try to follow what your email said . Unfortunately--it's finals or bust for me. If i'm not there--well, let's just say that it won't be pretty!
P.S.--I'm really sorry that I couldn't respond to you by email--the reply button was taking a long, long time to connect!
