Lightbulb NEW Ideas for a get-together: Any Ideas?

What do you normally serve for small to mediium sized gatherings? The gatherings aren't that big where you have to hire a caterer. I'm tired of preparing/ serving the same TRADITIONAL finger foods.

I'm doing something tomorrow night, but I'd like to get ideas for future references.

Any suggestions?

Talking Maybe......

Well, I know Sam's sells these Ham/cheese, Turkey/cheese spirals that I see alot. They aren't expensive, they look and taste great.

By traditional you mean like finger sandwiches, meatballs, lil smokies in bbq sauce and chicken? If you take a trip to Sam's they have alot of great ideas. As far as party dessert I like Bourbon Bars (cross between pecan pie and chocolate pie)

I hope this helps a little.

Sam's and Costco's also sells fancier hors d'ouvres (sp?) like spinach in phyllo wrap, scallops wrapped in bacon, crab cakes, etc. They are in the frozen food section and pretty good. I've also done fried turkey with rolls, spinach dip with fancy crackers, and a variety of salads.

I usually serve these mini quesh that are really good. They come in a box of about 48 and are sold in the grocery store (try Krogers), but I am sure Sam probably has them too.

Mini bunt cakes with icing or powder sugar make good desserts. Again, from my local grocer or you can make them.

My favorite finger foods that aren't really traditional are cucumber sandwich squares (crustless), chicken salad or tuna salad mini tarts, and melon balls.

I went to a small gathering recently and the host was serving different types of Fondue. It was really nice and very different. I'm thinking about doing the same thing the next time it's my turn to host the "Sister Circle" meetings that my girlfriends and I have.
