Red face An issue of racial profiling with hazing

It seems to me that NPHC & IFC are held to different standards. Some things which are done by the IFC frats would result in automatic suspension for NPHC frats. Like making pledges dress the same. Even the usage of the term pledge in any context (ie pledge, pledgee, dean of pledges, etc) could result in an investigation. Do you all see this happening as well?

I don't see any connection with what you're saying here...

Read my post again then. I am referring in general to many of the actions that are still done by IFC frats are not allowed by NPHC frats. And the rules are set by the states as well as the governing organizations. I don't think it's wrong what is done by the IFC frats. I have many friends in IFC frats & we have talked about it. I usually say something like "man I wish we could do that"

OK, I think I get where you are coming from...

It would only be "racial profiling" if the school had said to the NPHC orgs, you can't use the word pledge, etc., and the IFC orgs could, but that isn't the case. To my understanding that was the decision of the NPHC organizations themselves.

Many of the NPC sororities don't use the word "pledge" anymore either, and that was mandated by the national office of the sorority, NOT by the school. I have heard of places where you're not allowed to use the word pledge but it applies to ALL the Greek orgs on campus.

To answer the question I think you are asking: no, I don't believe that NPHC orgs are held to a harsher standard than NPC and IFC by schools.

If anything, IFC/NPC groups are held to a much higher standard of behavior in regards to the new member education process, at my school at least.

Walking "on-line", dressing alike (down to hairstyles), and being forbidden to speak to others are all things practiced rather publicly by NPHC and Latino/a fraternities and sororities, but when the most minor thing practiced by an IFC/local/NPC group is exposed by our (very liberal, anti-residential Greek) media, expect all hell to break loose.
