Burt Folsom returns to Alpha Tau
Last night, for perhaps the last time Brother Burton Folsom Nebraska '49 visited the Alpha Tau chapter for formal dinner. It truly was a great Beta memory for all those at the house, and Brother Folsom told our Alumni Relations Chair and our President that last night was perhaps his best Beta memory.
This was a big deal because Brother Folsom basically disassociated himself with our chapter during the 90s before our re-organization. So it shows a lot on how far this chapter has come in 8 years.
The other amazing thing was the gifts presented to the chapter by Brother Folsom. Brother Folsom donated the following to the Alpha Tau chapter:
The Oxford Cup presented to him at the 155th General Convention
The Francis Wayland Sheperdson Award presented to him at the 163rd General Convention
A lead crystal Dragon paperweight given to him at the 100th Anniversary of the Alpha Tau chapter
A letter from President George H. Bush to Brother Folsom at the 150th Anniversary of Beta Theta Pi
A copy of the new edition of Son of the Stars inscribed to Brother Folsom by Erv Johnson who wrote the new edition.
The Alpha Tau Chapter presented Burt with the Distinguished Service Award for his continued service to the chapter over the years. This was the only award that he had yet to recieve, so it was very emotional for him. The award is only presented by chapters.
Anyway it was an amazing night that I'm sure I will not forget.
