Your house...

Phi Sigma Sigmas! I would love to hear about your houses if you have them... or your suite, or your floor, or where ever a group of you live... (unofficial housing... hehe... shh I wont tell)

Heres some about Gamma Gamma's house, which we've had since the re-founding in 86 I think....

Our house is what I think used to be an old farm house with an addition added. The exterior is light yellow siding and has blue letters on the front. We have a front porch with a stone wall around it.

Go in the front door and you are in the living room. In the living room we have three couches and a chair - which are only two years old. We have a new TV and VCR too! (Presents from the advisor!) The carpet is brown berber... ugh... but it looks nice with the couches which are brown. Theres a bigger windown with dark blue curtains. On the wall is the charter, the 87 composite (re-founders) and then the 5 most recent composites plus, now a "composite" of the founders (Im sure every chapter has one, or most do) The one wall is a fire place (not working) with a big mirror over it, a mantle and shelves on either side. Each room gets a shelf. The bottom ones hold albums on one side and awards and our Sphinx on the other. (Hes a pretty sphinx from the Alums!) The two newest paddles are on the walls.

The next room is the kitchen. Its a normal kitchen, bigger in size (yet not bigger than my one at home, which is weird!) We have a table with 4 chairs, lots of cupboards, a pantry, and all the appliances needed.

There is a smaller double bedroom off of the kitchen - apt A

The back door is off of the kitchen - and is actually the one we use mostly cos its closer to campus! It leads to a back porch and the parking lot

From the kitchen there is a hall with three more rooms. B is now a single (used to be a double, but its TINY), C is a large double, D is a smaller double, and then there is the bathroom which is a normal 3/4 bath (toilet, sink and shower)

There are the stairs to go upstairs and downstairs.

Going up the stairs there are the next two newest paddles. Then there are 6 more rooms. E is a single, F is a medium double (my old room!) G is a medium double, H is a small double, I is a large double (house mom room it has a couch), J is a large double. Plus our bathroom which has three toilet stalls, three sinks and two showers.

Going downstairs to the basemet there are the third oldest set of paddles, one of which is mine... eek! Downstairs is our chapter room and laundry. You have to pay for laundry its a closet with washer and dryer. The room is light blue and lined with couches. Older paddles are out. There is also a back door that leads to stairs going up to the side yard. Very helpful when #1 you are sneaking a boy in that you dont want your sisters to know about (I know many people who have done this!) #2 You dont want to see your sisters and are running in for something #3 Alum are staying in the basement

So yea, our house holds 18 girls, the doors lock automatically and only residents have keys.

Its a great house!

The Theta chapter is at the University of Illinois... a very traditional greek campus... and one of the largest. So we have an old traditional house. It was built as a fraternity house, Delta Kappa Epsilon had originally owned it. We bought it from them in the 60s and have had it ever since

The max capacity is 65 women, comfortably 55. We have two main doors that lead into a beautiful foyer with marble floors. Our formal living room has Phi Sigma Sigma's crest above the fireplace with define wood work for the trim and ceiling areas. We also have a sitting room, full dinning room with a kitchen. mailroom, scholarship room and bathroom on the first floor. In the basement we have our chapter/ritual room, game room (w/pool table), TV room, or house moms office and some other miscellaneous rooms for storage (Rush room, etc.).

The second and third floor are all the bedrooms and a bathroom on each floor. In all the house is gorgeous. The chapter house is old which has its advantages but also its disadvantages. The cost for its upkeep becomes draining, but in all we are happy to have such a beautiful house full of history and tradition.

Does anyone have a cook or maid/butler? That would be soo cool! Also, is the house mom a sister or is she an older person?
