AGD Alpha Beta Rush!!!

Hello all of you wonderful people!

I'm just letting you that AGD's AB chapter has now officially started Recruitment!!! I am soo incredibly excited. Our chapter has been doing an incredible amount of work since we arrived 3 weeks ago on campus. We have come up with and changed all our themes and everything is going fantastic. We started rush today and all day yesterday I was getting sooo incredibly excited and anxious- the same feeling you get right before you go onstage to perform or on the field to play a game. Sorority Forum (info booths) was on Wednesday night and alot of great women came by that night. Melissa and I worked really really hard to make our board look fantastic. Overall- the image we're going for is fun down to earth and very very classy girls-coz thats EXACTLY what we are! I totally LOVE how we are completely our own entity on our campus rahter than being "a smaller version of house XYZ" Plus, we're completely diverse.

Tonight was Mixers. Our theme is Scenes From New Orleans. Our PNMs absolutely LOVED our house and every woman I spoke to seemed awesome. We had 6 parties. Quota this year is expected to be 40 women. Since we recolonized recently, we're not going to expect to make quota (even tho that would be FANTASTIC!!!). But overall, we had such great reactions that I am expecting that we'll do awesome. Alot of girls loved us! our attitudes, our house, the fact that we are a small but expanding chapter, etc. Last year, i know people's reactions were not very strong (& I know coz i was a rushee and i heard everyone else's comments!)

Anyways, Sunday is the rest of Mixers. I have some friends who are coming through and I'm very excited to see them & I think they'd be wonderful assets to our house. Alot of our rushees left tonight hoping they will be invited back to second rounds because they are completely excited about seeing the rest of the house.

Sounds like recruitment is going really well so far! Thanks for the AB news! I'm an AB alum and now that I'm living in Alabama I don't hear too much about the house!

I've heard that the house was redecorated within the last few years and that it looks great and that all the new AB women are wonderful! Please keep us updated! I wish the chapter the best of luck, not that you're going to need it, because I'm sure you all will do great!

You wouldn't happen to know if there's any new pictures of the inside of the house on the internet somewhere? I didn't think the chapter had a website? I'd love to see what the inside looks like now. Hope they redid the upstairs too! When I was there, everything was PINK, PINK, and PINK! It was known as the "pepto-bismol" house!

AB is doing fantastic! While I was helping behind the scenes last night, I heard lots of enthusiasm in the sisters' conversations. They all seemed very positive about PNMs and the experience in general.

On a side note, I went to help with ZA's recruitment this morning and they are also very excited about the girls that returned today. Tomorrow is Pref and Bid Day so I will report back with more tomorrow night.

Second day was equally awesome.

There are sooo many quality women coming through and i SWEAR i found my twin. I wish i hadn't gotten sick and had to withdraw last semester so i could be in good standing because I found my little! I guess I just have to settle for being a surrogate sister mother. At least now i can just concentrate on making sure she comes back to AGD and spoil her rotten anyways. I saw my friends tonight and all my sisters loved my friends coming through so now we just have to make sure they keep coming back. The girls all love how beautiful our house is and how spacious it is. I also made sure to tell all our PNMs about the penthouse as our new member room and ALL of the girls now WANT to come back next sets and see the whole house. Man...I really wish we had new carpet upstairs because that would improve the look of the house...instead we have scary brown carpet. I just hope they'll be impressed with the rooms and espeically the penthouse. I think the penthouse is the key seller because every girl-especially the ones from a walk away has the option to spend the night and has a place of her own.

Our house HAS been newly redecorated but we don't have any pictures on the web. I'll try to take some and get them posted to the new AGD website.

I'm definetely excited about Friday and our next set of parties. I hope I find out soon if my rush crushes are coming back next parties!!

Ooh, would love to see pictures of the redecorated AB house! That house is just incredible - by far one of the most breathtaking of the AGD houses I've seen.

Glad to hear recruitment is going well - continued good thoughts for our Alpha Beta sisters!!!

Hi all!
Second sets start tomorrow. Our return percentage is up from last year and we're definetely excited. our theme is called Alpha Gam goes Glam and we're wearing black dresses with red feather boas. It is our house tour rounds and i hope people are impressed with the house.

On a personal level, 4 out of my 5 rush crushes are returning so I definetely hope they pick Alpha Gam. AUGH! so 2 more parties to get thru after seconds! I'm getting anxious coz i want to know who our new members will be!!!

Seconds went alright. I think everyone-girls and rushees were exhausted both days.

Our return rates for thirds weren't spectacular but we're looking at quite a few great girls and hopefully they'll pick us.

Preferences are on Friday and personally I can't wait. I am ready for it to all be over and to find out who our new members are. I can think of probably 3-5 girls who are soley interested in Alpha Gam but I'm really nervous all the same.

We'll see.

Tell your sisters to keep the enthusiam level up - after all, you have a great chapter! Don't let the return numbers scare you - just focus on sharing with the pnm's your sisterhood and what Alpha Gamma Delta can offer them!

It's so nice to hear how excited everyone is about recruitment! Hang in there! It's almost over! Keep the energy up! It will make a huge difference and really set you apart from everyone else! Thanks for all the updates!

Thanks Leslie, for the website. I didn't realize there was a new one. There's still a few "old" ones out there. Looks like the downstairs is now yellow. Sure beats all the pink! I think that's at least the 3rd time they've redone the downstairs in the last 6 or 7 years. Doesn't sound like they've updated the upstairs! UGH! The carpet wasn't in the best shape when I was there, so hopefully they'll redo it soon!

Well, it's a worn out brown carpeting right now. That should really be next on the list!

Rush quota is expected to be 40-42 this year but campus ceiling totals are 120.

Just to let everyoen know, we have 50 girls coming back for Preferences. I am hoping that our mathmatical trend will continue and that we will get a bunch of awesome new members. I hope I have good news on Sunday.

So I've seen the list of girls we're preffing and i'm very happy. 2 of my 4 original rush crushes are back and I also found a new rush crush during 3rd sets. so we have 3 out of 4 of my rush crushes. I can't wait for pref and to see how we end up. I know i can't get my hopes too high just yet but I am VERY VERY excited about our new members.
