another badge on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...item=966095587

This one has a "buy it now" price of only $100 -- I'd love to see a sister get it before tyoregon does. I'm guessing it might be a new listing, and that's not a bad price for one with pearls.

PINS

HI All,

Valkyrie - Thanks for the note - Your idea is a good one about 1 pin a year...I have rescued 4 from ebay and one from an antique store...2 of the jeweled pins I rescued I gave away to 2 deserving collegiates and they were thrilled to get them....And it felt really good to do it too! I was going to sell them and recover a few dollars, but in the long run it was more wonderful to give them away!

I saved the first pin I found in an antique store as it was dated 1931 and I just wish I could know it's history. I donated one to our FD auction dated 1932 and a collegiate was excited to win it - the money went to Foundation.

I will do what I can to get pins back to Alpha Phi's...I teach and my school kids love to touch my pin and have even asked to 'have' one because they have an A in their name! And what do I do? I tell the girls that when they get to college they can join a sorority called Alpha Phi!!! I even told that to two little girls who's moms were in AXO and AZD!!!!

OMG - I'm rushing 5-6 year olds!!! LOL

pins

tyoregon had a mom and has a daughter who is a A-Phi. She has all the pins he has amassed and most he has paid in the 4-figure price for...Sad really as so many other phi's would enjoy and cherish and love some of the pins he has given to his daughter. But no one can outbid him - he has 2 (maybe 3) lazy phi pins, one regular pin dated 1906, 1 with rubies and pearls with blue enamel and a a pearl pin especially created by someone as it is very unique and a handful of regular old pins fromt he 20's and 30's...not sure about any others he has...His daughter has been to EO and shown them to the appropriate individuals...

So there you have it.

I was so happy to outbid him on a badge from 1928. I ended up paying more for it than I wanted (it's plain) but I really treasure it! If I end up getting a job at a large law firm, I bet I'll be able to outbid him all the time.

I just got my Quarterly, too, and I was so excited to see the article about the pins. I haven't read it yet, but will soon. The pictures are really cool.
