What are you wanting to pursue in grad school? I've been to Northwestern State several times. I don't know much about the academics there. I just know that it's a smaller school. Natchitoches is a really nice small town here. Lots of antique shopping and cute little shops from what I remember. It's about halfway between Alexandria and Shreveport (the two biggest cities in that area). You may want to PM Heavenslilangel because I believe she's an ASA at NSU. She would be able to help you better than I could.

edinboro is in the middle of NOWHERE!!!!! well... if you're used to any sort of metropolitan area... or even the suburbs, it is... sorry if i offend anyone :/ it's about 25 minutes or so north of meadville, where allegheny is, and past the snow belt so you get like three feet of snow when it snows... when it snowed freshman year, my prof from edinboro always had to cancel class cause he could never make it for eight a.m. but on the good side, it does have some good programs (like art... i actually would have been better off going there, but anyways...)

I definately am going to agree with sweetie adpi.
Edinboro is not a good school, in almost every way. Sorry if there's any edinboro peeps on here (don't think there are though).
It's in the middle of no where... probably not a whole lot of professional opportunities.
I've never been there, but I've heard from many many people that the campus is not nice at all. All the athletes from my high school went to sports camps there in the summer, and NONE of them end up going there because they disliked it so much.
Also from an educational point of view, it doesn't have the best reputation. It's very much a regional school, and even so, it does not have a good rep in western PA.

As a Clarion grad I never thought I would say this , but Laura, have you looked at Indiana U of PA? I know they have a SAHE program there, and it's twice as big as the other PA state schools.

I agree w/ Danielle & sweetie, if you don't like snow, don't go to Edinboro.

Unless you live a hermit's life, I would recommend going to a school in the middle of no where. My school is about 25-30 min. from town and like 40 min. (disobeying all speed limits) with the traffic from the beach. I really regret not going to a school in more of a metro area.

I'm from the Erie area (near Edinboro) and when I was looking at colleges Edinboro was at the BOTTOM of my list. I hate the campus, and I wanted to get further away from the lake effect snow. Not to mention that there is nothing to do in Erie let alone half an hour into the BFE that is Edinboro. So, if you're looking at surrounding envioronment I would definitely knock Edinboro off the list.

Congratulations!

Here is my take on Northwestern. Have they changed the name of it to "University of Louisiana at Natchitoches" (and yes, I can spell natchitoches off the top of my head ) like they did with some of the other schools? Or is it still Northwestern?

Anyway...
I went to Northwestern for a Thespian convention in 1998. There is NOTHING in that town. I mean n-o-t-h-i-n-g. The only place of business I remember was a Subway. And its been almost 5 years since I've been there, so who knows...I would take a trip to visit the campus, just to get a feel for the town.
