Question Calling all SOCIAL CHAIRS!!!

Hey all, I'm an Alpha Xi Delta from Eastern Washington University. I was just appointed our social chair and I've got some good ideas already from just reading a bunch of the postings, my only concern is that we can't drink during our socials so i need some DRY ideas! :-) You can post them here or e-mail me at KaYTee48@hotmail.com
Thanks so much!

Xi Love,
Katie

Wel, this isn't for a greek org, but a service org I'm in is having a theme party in a few weeks and the theme is "Rolling Through the Decades" and everyone is going to come dressed as his or her favorite decade.

Another traditional party that we have is called Boots and Boxers, where everyone shows up in boxers and some kind of boots. I've never been to that one, so I don't know what goes on at that one.

Hope this helped some

AlphaXiDeltaHottie:

I am an AXiD also and understand your dilema. We have been going through social chairs like they are going out of style this semester. We had a barbeque planned with one of the frats, but I suppose that fell through since it is starting to get cold here and we haven't scheduled it as of yet. At least not that I know of, so I can't tell you how that went over. We are havng a halloween theme mixer tomorrow and have had graffiti mixers, pimps&hos mixers and just regular ones where we just all go and dance. We have had a severe drop in attendance w/out the alcohol and generally no one stays past the "official" 11:30 ending time. We have since started focusing more on sisterhood activities, allowing the sisters to meet guys or whatever on their own time. Let me know if it's ok for me to email you privately to tell you more about what we are doing . This is getting kind of long and my other suggestions are more AXiD related. Hope this helps, at least a little bit. And maybe I'll talk to you later about some other ideas.

Xi Love & Mine,
Mindy

I'm a Delta Zeta and we have the same non-alcoholic policies, so I completely understand. Personally I think what works best is anything that involves food. Forget the themed parties, have a potluck dinner. Get each sister and each brother from the fraternity to bring something and have a huge dinner, it actually ends up being really social and a lot of fun.

Mz. Moderator, could you please delete the above post? I don't see how it belongs in this forum and at the same time I don't think it's appropriate at all.

Thanks.

Karoke party!!! Or... um, yeah, anything with food. What about a daynight? Switch pledges with a fraternity for a day! It's so much fun. For more information, e-mail me.

Hi,
Well my sorority is not allowed to drink at mixers as well and we have had the greatest of times at our socials. What we do is that we meet at the suite (no house) with the fraternity that we are mixing with before we leave to the club where we are having the mixer. There we have an event that goes along with the mixer. Example: Our last mixer we had a twister theme. We all dressed in primary colors and played a few games of twister with the guys before heading out to the club.

*Proud to be a ZTA*

Thats a pretty neat idea QueenZTA, we were thinking about doing a twister theme for next year. So u guys have an event before the mixer and then the mixer?
That must take a lot of work to plan that then, but thats cool
