No. I get my work done and do it well, so it wouldn't be an issue whatsoever.

My boss wouldn't mind so much because he knows that I get my work done. But since HR monitors our internet usage & they don't care how much or how little we get done in comparison to how much time we spend online, I have a feeling that they would be quite upset.

No, and believe it or not it is not against our company's computer use policy.

Here too. And if you weigh in the amount of stress I have to go through on a daily basis, internet usage in general shouldn't be a major issue as a trade-off!!!!

We're not *supposed* to be doing any surfing at all. However, when half your job relies on the email responses from another country in a different time zone, you're options are limited when there isn't anything to do.

I just have to be discreet about it.

Don't have internet access at work (and it is probably a good thing). Had I been at my old job, hell yeah my ass woulda been up the creek!

I was in the office on a slow day when the real secretary was out because she knew there wouldn't be much coming up. My boss saw me checking iout GC. The next day I saw him checking it out in his office.

At my first professional job, my boss was always telling me to get off my email (it was really GC) but the dudes in the IT were cool with me and it was never really a problem. At my second professional job they tracked and I was presented with a printout and told I could only surf during lunch or before/after work. I behaved after that.

Now, since I work for myself, I go on GC when I cant focus or can tell I wont be productive. If I am not going to be productive, theres no sense in trying to force it. It wont happen.
