U of Pittsburgh rush results?

Tonight is pref, but I know there's at least two other chapters from Pitt representing on here.

We're preffing 35, which makes me pretty happy. Anybody know how many quota is? I'm guessing around 15 like it usually is? We only need 8 to be at total (60) b/c we didn't lose many seniors, so it looks like we're in good shape.

Bid night is tomorrow.

Also, did anyone else hear that panhel had lost the previous year's return rates and statistics, so they kind of just made up how many we could invite back? We had had to cut a lot, and then found this out. ARGH!

We also have consultant with us who has recognized a lot of things that are done during rush are against national panhel policies- such as having Rho Chi's present during pref ceremonies, etc.

Danielle - you mean a KD consultant or Panhel consultant? If it's the latter, she has many many other stops to make in this neck o' the woods.

Sheila-
It's a KD consultant.
A panhel consultant would have a full time job in our area trying to get things straightened out in some of these messed up greek systems!

The only thing that I knew for sure is the fact that Quota has been set a 17. The problem is that this is only the second year of doing formal rush after a long time without, so no one is really clear what is going on. All I have to say is that the Internal Vice President is doing an EXCELLENT job, considering she really doesnt have much to go by. Toodles, and good luck!!

wow, 17? That seems really high considering how many girls dropped out. But it always seems to be too high on our campus. That's why only a few houses get quota, and the rest maybe half or lower.

Publicity was much better this year than in years past, I give that credit.

Just blatant disregard of rules, panhellenic or even local (had some issues last spring, seems the same this fall) bothers me. Why have rules then if you're not going to follow them?

Good luck!

I'm a former Chapter Advisor for ADPi at Pitt, and I had a few phone calls both last night & this morning.

Is quota still being set by the number of women who sign up for rush, or is it after a certain round of parties? One woman I heard from had her heart set on the "big sororities" but didn't receive even one pref party invitation! She & her roomie are both now so upset, they may not even give COB or snap bidding a chance!

A legacy x3 is so confused by the system, she's holding out for COB.

These are reasons why Greeks aren't more popular at Pitt. Something has to be done before more people are turned off!

Please, please, please post the results the minute they're available!!

ps - Good luck to all!

honeychile- I will post tonight whenever I get back whatever I find out. We don't get the lists until very shortly before bid night starts, so I won't know anything until later.

I have no idea how they set quota but 17 is way too high. Quota is supposed to be the number of girls attending pref divided by the number of houses, correct? I know that a lot of girls dropped out.

Also our cut numbers every night were really arbitrarily guessed at. They lost the numbers from previous years. We had to cut over 50 girls between 8 rounds and 4 rounds. When there's only like around 200 girls going through to begin with, that's a lot. Some were girls that we might've loved to invite back to see if they hit if off with someone else.

Quota is consistently too high, year after year, and they never change it. Usually out of 11 houses, maybe 5 get quota, and rest far less, like I said earlier.

Sounds like things continue to be the same at Pitt! *sigh* We used to set quota after the second round of parties, but I still think that it should be set after the third or fourth. With a 4-day rush, too many women drop out prior to pref.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop, kddani!

Every campus is different but most set quota after women accept invitations to second round. And your Panellenic needs to keep accurate numbers for release or everyone gets burned.

As for Rho Chi's attending pref......that's appropriate. There shouldn't be anything in pref that can't be shared----after all you do with women that might not accept a bid from you anyway. Rho Chi's when used correctly are there to keep track of the time and be sure there are no recruitment violations.

duh, I totally read this wrong I think (thanks double blue & gold). I thought that you were saying the Rho Chis came to their own group's pref and revealed themselves. Do you mean that the Rho Chi's who are in, say, SDT and SSS should not be allowed to come to the KD pref party?

Woohoo!

We got quota (17) and almost every one of them was on our first bid list!!!! They're SOOOOOOOOOOOOo cute and nice. We all went to the Pittsburgh Cafe as soon as they came out, etc.

The following sororities made quota-
KD, DZ, Tri Sigma, Chi O, Tri Delta, and KKG
So 6 our of 11 made quota! That's really good for Pitt!

The others ranged from 1 new member to 10, i think.

I'm so happy, and so proud. We now have 72 girls in the chapter

Congratulations, kkdani! Making quota is the way to go!!

I see some COB in my chapter's future - but they're much better at it than we were!

kddani, do you have information on the fraternities as well? KappaStarboy wants to know how Sig Ep did.

I'm happy for Kappa and all the other groups that made quota! Once I get settled in the Burgh I want to advise them

Ahhhhh!!!!!! Yeah Xi chapter!!!! *doing a little happy dance* I soooo wish I could have been there!

It sounds like everyone did well, and it's so great that a lot of chapters made quota!

Question: Did a lot of girls not match, giving the houses that didn't make quota chance to COB??

Also, what is house total at Pitt?
