New Alumnae Chapter
Okay, for those that have been attempting to follow my migration pattern . . .
I moved back to my hometown about 2 months ago (in Central Wisconsin) and got a fun job with the local Girl Scout council. Due to the fact that buying a house is cheaper (monthly at least - down payment is a completely different story!) than renting, I bought a cute little Cape Cod and am in the process of painting and decorating.
With regards to a possible new Alumnae Chapter. . . Being who I am and wanting to stay involved with AOII as much as possible I wanted to find out about other AOIIs in the area. The closest collegiate chapter is about 4 hours away and the closest alumnae chapter is only about 2 hours (45 minutes if my brother is driving!). Needless to say, I contacted Sherry about starting an AC in the area (I knew that something was started a bit ago but nothing came of it). She gave me the skinny and I sent a letter out to about 75 alums within about a 1.5 hour radius from my house (5 alums living in my hometown and I know who they are!). I heard back from about 5 and am planning on holding a gathering at my house on October 5th to decide how we would like to proceed!! (It definitely puts a deadline on when I need to get my furniture into my house!). I will definitely keep you all posted and I REALLY hope that everything works out and there will be a 3rd Alumnae Chapter in Wisconsin!!
Sarah
P.S. I'm planning on being in Norfolk for Convention next year if anyone else is too!

Hurrah! I hope you all are successful and we have a third alum chapter in Wisconsin soon. Out of curiosity, which collegiate chapter is closest to you?
I'm hoping to be at Convention 2003 as well, fingers crossed hard on that one I hope a lot of us can go and we all can meet!

Sarah,
Have fun!! I've been working on establishing an alumnae chapter now for over a year! Our biggest obstacle is that we're all from the same chapter (12 of us) and XB won't recognize us until we can have three different chapter involved. I completely understand their reasoning - it's just been frustrating trying to find other chapter alums in our area to even COME to a meeting. Ugh!
Other than that, it's been pretty easy. Have you gotten your packet yet? If not - you might want to do that so that you can let your 5 know what's involved - pretty EASY! It sounds like you probably have - but if not...
Let us know how your meeting goes! And Good Luck! It's been a while since I was involved in an alumnae chapter and they are so much fun!
Oh yeah - and congrats on your house!
Roses,
Heidi

Sarah,
Good Luck with the Alumnae chapter. I get excited to hear about any sort of expansion, but then I think AOII should be on every campus and in every city

Heidi, You sound like a dynamo, too! I don't understand the reasoning behind the need to have 3 different chapters represented in an alumnae chapter. Does this mean alumnae who were initiated into 3 different collegiate chapters, or does it mean alumnae who have been members of other alumnae groups? Twelve women sounds like the makings of a great alumnae chapter!!

The closest chapter is Kappa Sigma at UW-River Falls - there might be some closer in Iowa but it would still about 3 hours away.
Heidi, I definitely don't have to worry about different collegiate chapters. I was initiated into Beta Gamma, others in this town are Sigma Lambda, and then a few other chapters from Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota are the majority.

Sarah - this should be a breeze for you! I wish you the best of luck! When they set the date for your installation - if you choose to have an installation ceremony - let us know!!!
The reason behind the three different collegiate chapters involved in an alum group is to make sure that we aren't being exclusive - totally against our Ritual, right?! XB wants to make sure that everyone is welcome and that our groups are inclusive of ANY AOII chapter.
The good thing is that in our attempts to establish this new AC - I've gotten closer to women in my chapter that I had not known in college or didn't know as well. So, if I can count my blessings - it would be that these women are now some of my closest friends, ever!
