Trading Spaces goes Greek again!!
I saw a promo for this on TV yesterday! Also, if you missed the DZ episode that was on previously this season, it'll be on at 8 pm, right before this one!!
Trading Spaces
Berkeley: Prospect Street
60 min.
The series faces a tougher-than-usual decorating challenge when it celebrates Greek Week at the University of California Berkeley.
Designers Doug Wilson and Genevieve Gorder and carpenter Ty Pennington are on hand to help as the Delta Upsilon fraternity trades rooms with the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. After assessing each other's digs (while the girls find the boys' place gross, the frat boys deem the female abode unwelcoming), the remodeling begins with the standard rules: two days, a $1000 budget and no peeking. The results are as extraordinary as the measures taken, which include throwing everything in the frat room out the window and lighting a bonfire of discarded stuff at the sorority house.

I saw the commercial and they say that its DU, DG and AOPi. Also, it looks like Genevieve may be a Kappa because there is a clip of her singing "Kappacabana".

Actually, it's Laurie (the designer with the red curly hair) who is shown in the ad-trailer singing "Kappa Kabana"...and she is indeed a Kappa from (I think) Alabama or SMU (I forget which chapter).
I'm proud to have her as a sister, especially since she and Vern are the only two designers whose work I like!!!

The DZ one is on at 8 pm on Saturday, August 31, with the DU/AOPi one at 9 pm. All times are eastern.

OK, I just turned on TLC to watch Trading Spaces. It's only 10 minutes in, and I'm so disgusted. DU at Berkeley, how do you live in that dump??!!?!?! How gross

Doug's ideas were horrible...orange and lime green for men? The best thing he did was clean that filthy room. And I agree, the room did look like something out of Austin Powers. Out of all the designers, I don't know who's the worst, Doug's horrible designs or Frank's arts and crafts for adults. In my opinion Laurie's designs usually turn out the best and Amy Wynn's woodwork is the best.

DU = PU.... I'm embarrassed for your mothers
DU had such a great opportunity for great PR - why would they intentionally blow it like that???? Didn't your mother teach you to clean before having company - of course she did.
I can only assume that they had no idea how big this show really is and how many people watch it. Regardless, if I know that a camera crew is coming to my house, whether it's just the student TV station or a National Network, you better believe that I'd do a little cleaning.
Thanks AOII for representing the women's groups well!!! And DU, I hope that your mothers were watching! You guys just perpetuated the stereotype of the nasty Fraternity House.

Did anyone notice the exterior of both homes? I couldn't believe how nice both looked, especially our Sigma chapter house (I was in an unhoused collegiate chapter, so to this day I get excited about houses!) What architecture, wow, it was beautiful.
The DUs were great guys and a great TS team (TS is one of my dorky tv addictions, so stick with me here.) However, that room was truly frightening to start with. I really liked the design of their room, just not those colors. Doug, honey, why couldn't you have incorporated DU's colors in that room instead? How cool would that have been? Then again, to be fair, anything would have been a great improvement over what was there.
I'm so proud of our AOIIs! They worked hard, they fought for what they believed in, and did a great job. What a beautiful TV room, it's so pretty and new looking! I hated that there was no red in there, but considering our color is cardinal and that whole Stanford thing, I guess that wasn't going to happen Isn't it great to see a good portrayal of Greek Life and greeks working together on TV, versus what we've been offered lately?
Last words...Paige, the word is fraternity, not 'frat'!!!!!!!
