there are 7 NPC groups at MTSU:
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Omicron Pi
Chi Omega
Delta Zeta
Kappa Delta
Zeta Tau Alpha
approx. 300-400 girls are going through recruitment here this year We're expecting to have another very large fall new member class.

I heard from someone yesterday that there will be approx. more like 380-400 girls going through tomorrow rush here tomorrow night. I'm really excited! We had GreekFest (a casual and fun get-together for potential recruits to meet all the Greeks on campus) last Thursday night, and I met LOTS of very nice ladies (as well as some not so nice ones, but I may post something about that later in "weird rush stories" lol).
Two of the girls I talked to were very excited that I remembered their names after having just met them earlier that evening and then finding them again in the crowd later. They were a little bit embarressed because it took them a minute to recall my name, but I assured them it was nothing to be ashamed of, and that it's more likely that sisters will remember their names than vice versa. I had a couple of my sisters tell me about some people with rather, er, "questionable" reputations to watch out for, as well as girls they really liked and wanted me to meet.
One girl I met reminded me sooo much of someone else that I swore I had seen her somewhere before, yet she said she is only a freshman. It took me a few minutes to recall who she resembled, and then I said, "Ohhhh. You look sooo much like one of my sisters you could be her twin! She even talks a lot like you."
It seems to me the girl was flattered by this comment rather than thinking "what a weirdo!" about me. She was a genuinely nice girl amongst many others I met on Thursday. I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing them again, as well as meeting lots of other PNMs.
Teehee--- a little sidenote:
There were several freshman guys who saw me wearing my letters this week at various locations on campus, and asked me my opinion on the fraternities, and whether or not they should rush. I fully encouraged them to go for it! (have to help out all my Greek brothers since they often do the same for us) I reminded them that they should join a fraternity for the guys who are in it and how well they will get along as opposed to choosing one for reputation-type reasons such as having a big house, the "coolest" parties, the ones who "get the most girls", etc. I also told them about GC and suggested they come here for some truthful advice as opposed to listening to rumors and such.

The official number for tonight is ***417*** girls!!! Woo-hoo! This is a record number for MTSU as far as I know. We're all completely psyched & our chapter room looks phenominal! Rush kicks-off at 3pm today with Values Night. We're wearing khaki skirts, brown sandals, brown belts, and navy blue stitch-letter shirts. The letters are turquoise with silver backing. I just know we're going to do awesome and end up with wonderful new members by Thursday. It seems to me as if our school will need to get another NPC sorority soon or else a lot of girls will end up not getting into any of them next year, because we only have 7 NPC sororities right now! I wanna wish everyone out there good luck w/your rush, especially my fellow MTSU Greeks! Our Greek system here is really becoming HUGE!
Teehee I just have to throw something in here- SAE hosted our annual Greek Mud Volleyball last Friday and the Championship winners were Kappa Alpha Order and Zeta Tau Alpha. Yaaay! It was without a doubt one of the most fun days I've ever had! I think all Greek systems should consider such an event for Greek Week if they haven't already!
I will update you on how things go tonight, although it may be pretty late before I get back, since we have skit rehearsals following recruitment tonight.

Good Luck ZetaLuvBunny and SparkliiQTMTSU. I know the Zetas will do great!!! I love how you are getting the men to help you out! I will be checking back frequently to see how everything is going. I can't believe how many women you have signed up. THAT IS AWESOME!!!! WOO-HOO! Good luck to all the MTSU Greeks. I am sure these women will be great additions to sororities on campus, although I am a tad bit partial.
Zeta love,
meredith \^^^/
PS - ODU Recruitment starts on Sept. 5th. I am so excited, but have to wait a little bit longer!

Hey ya'll! I hope you girls are having an awesome time so far. I know my roommate had a blast last night. (I'm waiting for spring recruitment.)
I was part of a group that was trying to get MTSU to expand, and when we met with the Greek life advisor, we were told that MTSU wouldn't expand for at least 2 more years. Maybe they'll change their mind with all the girls that have signed up this year.
Have a blast this week and don't forget to take a little time for yourselves to relax! Good luck and God bless!!!!

Sorry I couldn't post last night, but as expected I was exhausted! I'm sure the PNMs were too, although we had to stay even later to clean-up and so-forth. We had 9 parties of girls come through for twenty minutes at a time. All the girls I rushed were really sweet. Some were extremely talkative, others were a tad on the shy side, but all were very excited to be there. We recieved many compliments on our room, the video we showed, our philanthropy, and our outfits just to name a few. I had an awesome time, but ended up with a huge blister on each of my big toes from my cute yet painful sandals
We had at least 10 or more ZTA legacies coming through, including two girls who are blood little sisters of current members in our chapter. We also had several girls who had Zeta reccomendations and high reccomendations. Thankfully there weren't any "no recs". There's so much more I want to talk about on here, but I can't go into specifics on here obviously until recruitment is over.
Tonight is Philanthropy Night, and we're wearing khaki pants with pale pink t-shirts. The shirts say "Zeta Tau Alpha, Iota Chi" on the front and have a gold grown over the "Z". On the back there is another crown and a huge pink ribbon, and it says "The Susan G. Koman Foundation began with one sister's promise to find a cure for breast cancer- Since 1992, thousands of sisters in Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity have joined in the fight in hopes that one day that promise will be reality."
Our "craft" will be a bit different tonight than in past years. We have chosen to have the girls write a letter on cute stationary to a woman in their lives they care about (Mom, Aunt, Grandmother, sister, friend, etc) reminding them to take care of themselves and do a monthly self breast-exam. We're including in the letters shower cards, a pink ribbon, and the letter which will add a personal touch from the potential new member. Hopefully our Philanthropy will touch all the girls' hearts and minds no matter what sorority they end up joining.

ZetaLuvBunny,
Oooh, I love recruitment details. It sounds like your ZTAs are going to have a wonderful recruitment this year!
I love your philanthropy idea, so original and so truly useful. I think it really will remind both sisters and pnms to be grateful for the women in their lives who have helped shape and educate them. GO ZETA TAU ALPHA!
Thanks for posting and good luck in recruitment!!!
