Hey all!
I will admitt that I visit gc on a daily basis while I visit other discussion boards. I'm always sad that nobody posts in the Sigma Alpha Sections. SO to change all that I'm going to try to come up with an interesting topic for discussion on a daily basis.
Today I want to hear about everyones chapter!
I'm a member and the 1st V-P of the Gamma chapter at Michigan State University! I rushed the spring and am SO excited about Sigma Alpha! Our chapter got a house this past year and we are working hard to improve our lovely home! We still have a single room available if you know anyone at MSU thats looking for a place to live
Gamma is working hard allready to have a GREAT rush, 12 girls graduated in May and we are looking to grow.
Gamma had adopted a funny tradition, we have made our chapter mascot the rubber duck. Our big philanthropy project each spring is a duck race down the Red Cedar River that flows right through the campus. People buy ducks then at noon we throw them into the river and watch them race. Our house is decorated in ducks, our families are named after ducks, one bathroom in the house is ever fully decorated with rubber ducks, it really is so cute LOL We also have pass the duck (It's a huge fluffy duck stuffed animal)at each meeting where we tell about our week good or bad, and any big news like internships, etc.
I know some chapter are part of the greek system on their campus. At MSU we ar not considered part of the greek system. Some of the girls would like to pursue going greek and some want to stay like we are. I think it will be a long time if we do go greek at MSU. I really would love to see Sigma Alpha be part of npc nation wide
Gamma also loves to hang out with Farmhouse and AGR. We love the boys! AGR live just over a block from us and we always go over and pull pranks and steal their composite (it's not just an MC thing either LOL) we also have dinners with Farmhouse and usually make our homecomming float with them. They too love to pull pranks on us like t-ping our house for formal, and decorating out windows with shaving creme.
One newly adapted item st Gamma is the grill on the back porch. OUr alumni donated teh grill after a homecomming BBQ and we LOVE it. All semester and summer we have decided that veggie packets is the meal of choice. We all sit on the porch, grill, talk, and it's a good time to bond with your sisters durring the week. All in all Gamma loves to have fun and we love our sisters and organization!
If any of you are ever near MSU please come visit the house and meet your sister at the Gamma chapter!
Now it's your turn, I want to hear about your chapter, if you have a house, are part of the greek system on campus, funny traditions, etc...
