Accident Prone

I'm sitting here with second degree burns on my "good" hand because I was an idiot! I forgot to put the canister under the coffee maker. (4 hours of sleep mind you) went out to get the paper and when I came back, coffee and coffee grounds were all over the place. I pulled the plug and lifted the coffee maker and spilled the steaming water all over my hand. I do stupid things like this from time to time and am to the point where biorhythm (physical critical)seems to bear a lot of truth.
Now, I know lifesave has a lot of accidents with his bike, is anyone else accident prone?
Any new "ouchies" lifesaver?

2nd degree burns? Are you serious or exagerating a bit? Because second degree is no joke. Make sure you take care of your hand!

I was very accident prone as a kid. My brother was too. My mom had a headache parenting us in okinawa LOL Many trips to the ER. LOL One time my brother(I think he was 4 at the time) stuck a screw up his nose and we were about to have a typhoon. So, that made for an eventful day.

My brother and I were both very accident prone kids. We've probably broken a combined 15 bones or so! He always got in car crashes, which were never his fault (even according to the police who filled out the accident reports). Which means I have to tell this funny story:

I got into one car crash, and it involved my neighbor's house !!!! Something about my accelerator sticking, and me frantically trying to turn the wheel, and just clipping the edge of their brand new kitchen. So I hit the house hard enough to shake me up a bit. My mom heard a big noise, so she's out on the front porch looking up and down the street. But I was behind the house. And my sister, who saw the whole thing from her bedroom window, comes down and tells my mom, who came running out. It was really crazy. I promise I'm a good driver!

About 2 months ago my mom calls me up and tells me their was this big thud early in the morning, and the whole house shook... and that same neighbor had hit our house with her car! !!!

Anyways, I sort of out-grew the accident proneness, although I have my occassional moment. We drove my mom crazy when we were little. Makes for some good stories, though!

The greatest part of my hand is first degree, but I must have hit the burner or something because I blistered and lost some skin...Oh I get sick thinking of it. Have some silver sulphadiazine on it and aloe vera on the rest. That should do it. Thanks for the thought though!

SilverTurtle That is sooo funny! Turn about is fair play???

Miami1839-my son stuck one of those little animal sponges up his nose and the Dr. didn't even catch it. He gave him an RX. We went to my sisters house and she was so disgusted she put a kleenex to him and yelled BLOW-and out it came!

Justamom,

Wow, what a situation . My mom took my brother to a navy hospital nearby and they didnt have the proper specialist so we had to drive to the air force base on the island where they called in an ear/nose/throat doctor. He got out the screw and when we got back to the house. We had four conditions based on the level of winds. condition 4, 3, 2, 1, condition 1 caution, and emergency. When we walked into the house they just announced emergency. LOL

One time comes to mind when I forgot something for soccer practice and tripped over these steps in front of my house. My chin landed on the edge of one of those steps and split my chin open. We had an okinawan maid who was like a nanny so she helped me out and then my dad took me to the hospital. just had some stiches and it healed back in no time. boy, do military hospitals have long waits.

Let's see...in the 1st grade I was jumpin' rope in the rain and fell down and scraped up my knees up pretty bad-- getting the asphalt pieces from my knees didn't feel too great! That left my knees all scarred up.

A couple times after ballet classes around 2nd and 3rd grade- I was running around and fell down...my bloody knees got to dry up with my leotards on...that was a hell of a time getting those off.

Around 8th grade I pulled my back. That hurt like hell. Ever since then, I've been prone to back pulls.

I am very accident prone! My aunt and my grandmother claim that it's genetic because the two of them are also klutzy. I've had few broken toes and I broke my elbow about a year and half ago.
I tend to lose my footing a lot. It started when I was about 5. My family was in Hiroshima and there was a reflecting pond. I accidently fell in. My parents had to search for clothing to buy because the ones I was wearing were soaked and it was about 60 degrees outside. The problem was that my parents would have my grandmother ship clothes to us from the United States. The Japanese clothing did not fit me because the clothing there is made smaller due to the fact that the Japanese tend to be slightly shorter than Americans. My parents found me a pair of pants and shirt that, lengthwise, was perfect but, widthwise, it was way too big. My pants kept falling down the whole day. My dad has that on video; he seems to always want to show it to my boyfriends.
Then, when I was 13, I was at Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. There is a zoo at the top and you can feed the animals. I was at the deer exhibit. There was a fence then a moat of water and then the land for the deer. I leaned over the fence to throw the food but leaned too far. I went head first into the moat of water!!! A couple of people had to pull me to my safety. I had cuts and bruises all over my arms and legs that have left scars to this day! A constant reminder of my accident-prone self and my humiliation.

I am the queen spaz.

When I was 7 I broke my elbow in the growth plate, from falling off my bike. Most kids when they fall, they put their arms out straight. Not me, I landed directly on the tip of my elbow, breaking it off and requiring surgery. I'm lucky my right arm grew to a normal length.

When I was 10 I broke my foot by (dumbass) running around in circles.

When I was 13 I sprained my foot by (even more dumbass) running from my room to the living room and back to tell my mom I had beaten a special level in Super Mario World.

In my senior musical, we did the Will Rogers Follies. The set for the show is a giant follies staircase. Well, the opening musical number required us to go up the stairs and exit in the middle of the number, to return later in the song. I missed the top step on the back side of the stairs, and fell head over heels down the other side, about a 7 to 10 foot drop. That sucked, I was covered in cuts. My ass was green the next day from bruises.

Last spring, I fell down the stairs in two different buildings in one week. The second time I fell I bruised the hell outa my back and couldn't move much for a day or two. That was fun.

Last night at the Ice Skating rink, I didn't fall on the ice one time. But I did fall trying to sit down. Without skates on, mind you. The walls are lined with movie-theater style chairs that fold up when you sit down. I stood up for somethng and then sat back down and fell right on my ass.

This summer I had enough accidents to last me a lifetime! I had never been in a car accident, (except for a very close call on I-95 when a truck drifted from the southbound lane, was going so fast he went airborn from driving through the ditch-like median, crashed into the northbound lane, only 20 feet in front of us, and bounced into the brush on the right hand shoulder), until the middle of July. I was driving down a parking lot aisle, when this idiot swings through empty parking spots from the next lane over and smashes right into my back passenger side door. Wait, I take that back...my parents back door, yeah I was driving moms car. Then, a week later, I'm driving home from the beach with my little brother, and I slow down at a yellow light, which the car in front of me goes through, as it turns red, so of course, I am stopping. This lady behind me, rear ends me, pretty bad, maybe she thought I was going to run the red light?! I'm embarrassed to have said what I did in front of my little brother, but I was incredulous and extremely pissed that another person had hit me! Talk about bad luck huh?

This topic hits soooo close to home! I am so accident-prone that its the running family joke!

A few years ago, I was in the shower and dropped the bar of soap. As I was lifting it up, I slammed the back of my head against the porcelain fixture...my roommate found me at the bottom of the tub, lol. That was my first experience with a concussion and whiplash.

Then in 1997, I was in an head-on hit and run automobile accident, which gave me a concussion, whiplash, and put me on crutches. This is followed by two auto accidents, in 1999 and 2000, where I was rear-ended so hard I was pushed into cars in front of me. Unfotunately, my poor back couldn't take it anymore: I was diagnosed with trauma-induced fibromyalgia in October.

And a couple of months ago, I also gave myself second degree burns on my hand from cooking...so JAM, believe me, I feel your pain! Although the burn has healed, you can still easily see where I was burnt because its still pink.

I'm sure there are a ton more examples I could give you all, but this is just what comes to mind off the top of my head!

Re: Accident Prone

Well, as I sit here typing I've got--rotator cuff damage on my right side, tendonitis in my left elbow, two broken toes on my left foot and a HUGE bruise on my ass! LOL

I've always been a klutz/accident prone.

JAM--OUCH! I hope your hand feels better soon!
