Dear AOII Council Members,
We wanted to make you aware of a news story that is circulating and gaining a good deal of traction in the media. It concerns a group of women at the State University of New York at Albany who are claiming to be members of Alpha Omicron Pi. As a reminder, AOII closed our Delta Psi Chapter (State University of New York at Albany) back in November, 2014. Seven Albany students were recently arrested for hazing and reported to police that they were members of Alpha Omicron Pi. It appears that these women may have been operating as a local organization and using our name to do so. Only one of the seven members is an initiated AOII. Disciplinary measures and
appropriate legal action will be pursued.
Please know that we are contacting media and reporters about the inaccuracies being shared and, in some cases, reporters are cooperating by correcting online reports. Feel free to share with your chapter members that these women do not represent a chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi.
Fraternally,
