Builds leadership qualities. Teaches responsibility, accountability. Lifelong friendships. Networking. That is what first came to mind.

First thing to know is that fraternities consider "frats" to be a derogatory term, and prefer that the word not be used.

To answer your other questions, I suggest that you run a search of the main topics you're interested in. You'll be able to find several threads that should give you all the info you need.

Personally, however, I'm not a supporter of high school fraternities or sororities because they have no National organizations to oversee them and prevent them from stepping out of line (such as condoning harmful hazing practices or alcohol abuse).

I'm extremely sorry if I offended you by saying "frats" I meant nothing derogatory by it. And I can't say that I agree w/ high school fraternities but my speech teacher said we have to debate it whether we agree w/ it or not so I have to do research to determine the best angle of attack against my opponent. Thanks for your comments.

If you are doing a paper on high school fraternities, try searching SPECIFICALLY under "high school fraternities" on the net. The high school and college versions are two very different animals.
