Smile Mother's/Parent's Ceremony

Okay...my chapter has never done a mother's/parent's ceremony in the past. Well, I decided that this year would be a great year to start the tradition. So, guess who is in charge of it. I need some ideas about what other chapter do for this ceremony b/c I basically want to have everything ready at our first meeting so I can present it to the chapter. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appriecated. Either post them here or email me at lmjsigkap@yahoo.com. Thanks a bunch in advance.

Okay...I'm going to try this one more time...if anyone (from any sorority or fraternity) has any suggestions I would greatly appreicate them. I'm not asking for your ritual or anything, but just ideas or suggestions. Thanks again everyone.

Does Sigma Kappa have a mothers pin ceremony at all? Or do you just want to make up your own? Check on this first to make sure you're complying in regards to ritual, etc.

If not then I see no harm in making up a simple ceremony. Use songs that you might use during pref night and have each sister say a few words to the parent they are honoring. They can thank then for their support of their membership in Sigma Kappa.

Just an idea to get you started..................

My chapter does a daughter parent tea! All our parents get formal invitations and we usually do it on a Sunday afternoon. We usually get one of the ballrooms on campus and have awards and such. It's a great time for all, and especially for all the mother's that we Chi Omega actives back in their college days!

It would be cool to have the daughters pin their parents. But I would contact your advisor or nationals to see if any other SK chapters have done a parents' ceremony and how you do it!!!

Thanks for the replies girls!!

ChiOqt...what do you guys serve? Do you do a ritual ceremony, or something more informal? If it's not ritual or a secret, could you tell me how you honor your mothers/parents. If it's ritual, I completely understand. Thanks a bunch.

It's not really a ceremony. It's more of a way to show our parents all of our amazing sisters, and they hear about everything that we win and have accomplished on campus. They just get like an intro to our chapter. And our officers speak. And then we honor any mothers that are alumnae of Chi Omega. The new pledge classes are introduced. We tell them about our community service and involvement and such. And we just serve punch, fruit, hor'dourves....(i don't know how to spell it). Basically, it's just a classy way to show our parents the chapter and such! Hope that helps
