greek rivalry

What GLO is your GLO's biggest rival at your school( rush, athletics, etc.)? Over here, since there are only two social fraternities, we are always locking horns with sigma pi. As for the sororities, delta zeta and agd are also two powerhouse's that compete heavily diring rush and greek week.

There are 4 sororities at my school and we do not have a rival. DZ and Tri-Sigma are rivals, we (Alpha Phi) are cool with everyone, and AST pretty much keeps to themselves.

For our chapter--- We are rivals with Sig Ep, even though I do buisness with many of them as far as being in the promotion game for clubs and etc. My main beef is with Sigma Chi. I love getting in fights with them, cracking jaws and swinging left to right. The main problem I have with them is deeply rooted. When I was in highschool my group of friends and I were the studs of our highschool. There were nine of us. We were the ones who were the studs of the football team, baseball team and soccer team. We played sports because we knew it gave us an inside advantage to the cheerleaders, softball chicks and soccer chicks. Anyhow--when we left for college, 4 of us came to UF, 1 went to live in the carribean in Martineque, 1 went to Univ. Of North Carolina, 1 went to Princeton, 1 to Harvard and 1 to Ole Miss. Out of those of us that came to Uf, I was the only one not to go Sigma Chi. When they found out I went Pike they didnt have shit to do with me. 1 night at this bar many greeks here go to, I saw them. I was with some of my brothers and I said whats up to them. They looked at me and turned the other way. I grabbed one by the arm and told him to go fuck himself in the ass. He threw his drink on my shirt and we got in a fight. Imagine that, a bunch of drunken frat boys fighting.....I later was told that they were deeply hurt that I didnt join sigma chi and thats why they had hard feelings towards me.

This is the case with many people in this greek community here. It doenst matter what things were like before college but rather how they are while in college.

I guess we're pretty lucky, on our campus the fraternities and sororities get along with one another pretty well, with a few exceptions.

For instance, one fraternity will start rumors, such as saying that another fraternity tried to start their house on fire, and other nasty stuff. They often think that they are better than others, and think they deserve some special status just because they joined a particular chapter. For this reason, I try to avoid them and am as cordial as necessary when I have to interact with them.

On a lighter note, two of the four sororities have a slight rivalry that started from the Greek Awards this spring. Pi Phi beat AOPi for grades, but AOPi won the award for top sorority chapter of the year. A funny story that arose was when Pi Phi came to serenade us, they turned toward AOPi's house and put a line in the song that said "cuter than any AOPi!" Then as we returned the greeting, we accidentally did a cheer for AOPi instead of Pi Phi! Those girls were pissed off and shocked! I apolgized to a couple of them later that week, so hopefully they aren't still upset after all this time!

:BUMP:

Well, you know the wonderful, beautiful new fraternity row I won't shut up about? Well, a certain fraternity (I won't give any names, but let's just say "Oops, I joined" ) will be across the street from the row, more specifically, our new house. Well, everytime I see one of their members, they keep saying "AHAHAHAHAHA FRAT ROW WILL NEVER BE DONE ON TIME! YOU GUYS ARE NEVER MOVING IN!" They're just jealous because they're going to be in this shack across the street from eight beautiful new houses.

Well, aside from the fact that everyone thinks they're a bunch of tools, I guess you could say that they are our rival. Two consecutive years, we have faced each other at Kappa Delta's Frats-At-Bat, and in 2001 (In wasn't in the house yet, they BARELY squeezed out a win. and in 2002, we killed them 17-1. I guess we're rivals because we're the smallest house on campus (for now), and they're I guess the ones that are the least liked (Am I right Josh?)

Sigma Chi and SAE normally duke it out because they're the two biggest houses.

OH MAN, I can't wait until the new house is done ON TIME, and I can just laugh at them in their faces.

On my campus it's Phi Mu and Tri Sigma. Funny, because I'm a Phi Mu and my roommate is a Tri Sigma.

Ok, that made entirely NO SENSE. You just spouted out a bunch of incoherent phrases. but I'll try to Answer it. It's not like we're fist fighting in the street. It's just competition in sport and some words exchanged over a house. I don't see where our charter would be pulled for that.

Greek rivlaries on our campus

On our campus we have 4 fraternities and 4 sororities.

Sigma Chi and Lambda Chi Alpha are the biggest rivals in the fraternities. Delta Phi Omega (local fraternity) don't really cause any problems and the Phi Beta Sigma's pretty much stick to themselves.

The sororities all get along for the most part.

Well Stan, it is a difference when 2 Fraternities just go jaw to jaw on the sports field, but when the police are called, there is a damn big difference!

The school ,looks rather askew at just what they are doing!

What little bubble of greek life are you living in?

We as Greeks are under the mocroscope at many Campuses! Do Some screw up yes they do if you get e-m from other sites as I do it tells the story!

Hell I am PRO GREEK!! CANNOT YOU TELL?

Umm......where did it say in my original post that the police have been called?

If you're refering to me saying SAE and Sigma Chi duking it out, I meant on the sports field lol. Sorry if you misinterpeted it wrong. This last year, Sigma Chi and SAE have played each other in intramurals and at philantrophies, and there is no clear cut winner. Sigma chi will win Beach Volleyball whereas SAE will win indoor soccer. Duking it out as in fierce competition on the field. I mean, they're cool with each other and all. No two fraternities (at SDSU at least) have ever gotten into a fist fight over who has the better house or what not.

Our rivals are Delta Zeta. They always get the cute girls.

I guess are rivals are everyone except Sigma Pi because they are interest group. IFC voted no to expansion. Unamious expect we voted yes for them. People tried to fight us at the begining. We made peace with Kappa Sig. We don't see our selves like them at all, but people told me indepently of each other that Kappa Sig and Theta Chi were threre top choices for rush. I'm jealous that they got the 5 people I wanted. Oh well.

Wink Rivals

Our Rivals used to be Phi Kappa Theta, I knocked one out last semester......What do you think of that TOM!!!!! Knocked him cold, and I was still voted in to VP of IFC, because his brothers who I live next to cant stand him anyway, normally they are our rivals on the sports feild, but we have whooped their asses for the last two years at every major sport, and we also killed everyone in Greek Week for the last 5 years...But lately we have had beef with Kappa Alpha, they recently got into it with a friend of our chapter, and active, and our Alumni of the year.....Those three guys didnt even start it, and only threw punches after they where thrown at them, those three guys beat the crap out of 7 KAs.....and put two in the hospital.......But that what happens when you mess with Mu Zeta.......ask the Sigma Nus from U. of Louisiana Lafayette.....Im not sure they will try to tell you, its just their words might be a little slured from the broken jaws.......

There are 4 sororities, and 5 fraternities on my campus, the sororities don't really rival, except that the three national sororities don't really like the local sorority, they don't play by the rules.
And as for Fraternities the SAE's and Phi Delta Thetas are probably the biggest rivals, because they are the strongest groups.
