need rush outfit ideas
I am an Alpha Delta Pi and our chapter is already planning our formal rush for next fall semester. We are looking for ideas on a "unique" outfit to wear our second day...Philanthropy Day. Our Philanthropy is The Ronald McDonald House. We thought up aprons that are painted or overalls (but 3 other chapters do this already). We want something that will make the rushees remember us!! If you have any ideas, we would love to hear them! Thanks

And while we are talking clothing, BLACK PARTY PANTS AND/OR KHAKIS ARE NOT PIN ATTIRE!! (aka, they are not formal enough) Whew, felt good to get that one off my chest.
Back to the rush unis - maybe jean shorts or khaki shorts (depending how warm it is) and t-shirts with your mascot on them, but not all the same. Like if the tiger is your mascot - a realistic looking one, a cartoon one, a Warhol-type tiger & so on.
Or if you have colors nobody else on campus has, t shirts in those are good. But if you're one of 3 who has red or blue skip it, the rushees will get more confused.

What is your Philanthropy? Could you dress according to what you do...like sunshine group...wear yellow...
I don't know for sure, but stand out so you will be remembered!

at my school, philanthropy night is the first night of recruitment and it is also the most casual night for both the actives and the rushees. the girls in my chapter wore khaki pants, running shoes, and a t-shirt from one of our philanthropy events. this next year, be sure to have distinctive-looking t-shirts made for your charity events, keeping in mind that if you require every sister to buy one, you can use them the next year on philanthropy night. the rushees wore jeans or pants and sweaters.

Greek Gal,
It really depends on what your philanthropy is and what project you will be working on with prospective members.
Please provide some more details, and maybe even your sorority so we know colors, symbols and themes.

I know a chapter that does this big philanthropy event on their campus that a lot of people come to, so what they do is get t-shirts made for that event. Then, for philanthropy day, they wear those t-shirts with khaki pants, skirts or shorts. The t-shirts are great, and also promote your philanthropy.

Well, if your philanthropy is Ronald McDonald House, you could all wear big red clown wigs--that would be memorable, now wouldn't it??
We wore overalls at my chapter, but as you said, 3 other chapters already do that, and you want to stand out.
At the chapter I use to advise, they wore those canvas toolbelts that you can get at the Home Depot, or even some craft stores. Then they stencilled the chapter letters onto the front of the toolbelts. Some of them also wore hard hats, and also some girls got those vests with the reflective tape that construction workers wear. It was adorable! The rushees really loved it! (Their philanthropy was Habitat for Humanity).
But I still like the idea of all of you wearing big red Ronald afro wigs. Or maybe all of you wearing those big red shoes he wears . . .
Best of luck to you and your chapter!
