tiger--
it is a requirement of the Greek system that you attend the school which houses the chapter. Sorry. Maybe you could charter a new chapter. Look into it.

Question rush location?

I go to a school without a greek system is it possible for me to rush at a neighboring univ. to join? Would requirments be the same for me? I have heard that pledges are sometimes called in the middle of the night to come to the house to perform tasks and I not attending the school would be unable to do this how would that work? I hope somebody out there could provide me with a little info on this.

Chartering a new chapter isn't a bad idea. I do know that several Black GLO's in the area where I attended school had 'metropolitan' chapters (at least I'm pretty sure that's what they called them). These chapters weren't located at any 1 school, each school involved hosted activities, etc.

I don't know how other organizations, or their governing bodies, handle this situation.

Good luck either way, Tiger

The name is city-wide for chapters encompassing more than one school. Some orgs have intermediate chapters which include both alumni/ae and undergrads who do not have a chapter at their school.

Tiger, if you are interested in an NPHC orgaznization, then Mccoyred's response about the city-wide chapters is correct.

But if you want to join an IFC or NPC chapter, there has to be a chapter of that org already at your school, or you and friends can try to start one.

BTW - if any organization "calls you in the middle of the night to come to the house and perform tasks", that is not an org you want to be in. Such actions are hazing.
