Four recharterings this semester!
Norfolk State is the fourth rechartering this semester. The others are Wagner College (I/97), New Jersey Institute of Technology (I/99) and Interamerican University -Metropolitan (IV/98).

Don't know. Current list of PGs according to www.apo.org
Alabama State (IV/69)
Emporia State University (VIII/34)
Ivy Tech Community College (VI/31)
Regent University (III/83)
San Diego State University (X/2)
St Augustines College (III/80)
St. Anselm College (I/94)
Tarrant County College SE (VII/41)
University of Illinois at Springfield(VI/47)
University of Maryland Baltimore County (III/86)
University of Redlands (X/2)
Now we add Salisbury State (III/85) and Virginia State (III/83) to that, I think.

Take one down
I think Virginia State comes off the list. Having just come from the Section 83 conference, the word is their petition has been pulled for various reasons, all of them legitimate.
Personally, I've got my eye on St. Augustines.....they came from NC to the Section 83 Conference at UVa, just to foster brotherhood. They are some of the most enthusiastic students I've met in a long time, just from the 10-15 minutes I spent talking to them.
Also, don't count out Regent....with Quala as their Advisor, you KNOW they have their stuff together!!

Too bad on Virginia State, I thought they were a PG already, is this just an issue with the charter application?
*From my observations*, enthusiasm tends not to be an issue with the groups at HBCUs (They are probably the most enthusiastic I've seen). But sometimes that enthusiasm can lead to places that inexperienced staff members don't expect. (Having said that, Jamie is *not* my idea of an inexperienced staffer. )
I don't discount Regent, but I expect that the University will place requirements and limits on the chapter beyond those which would even occur to the Student Activities office at many schools. And this will definitely be a PG/chapter where some service projects done by other chapters will be completely inappropriate. (I would expect the chapter to have stronger ties with their local BSA council than many others though)

you'd be surprised
Trust me, until last year, I *never* thought I'd set foot on Regent's campus, let alone work there and be a student there! You'd be very surprised at how "normal" (and I shudder at that word, but it's the best I can come up with) the students and Student Life department is at Regent. Just as folks from PWI's may have misperceptions about life at an HBCU, folks have misperceptions about Regent.
The challenges faced at Regent have NOTHING do with the atmosphere of the school nor it's stated motto (Christian Leadership to Change the World). It's been the fact that the undergraduate programs are relatively new, and student life for undergrads is still in its infancy. Many of our undergrads are also non-traditional students, so those pose their own set of challenges. I've had nothing but wonderful, overwhelming support from the Dean of Students. Other than that, don't expect me to discuss groups in a public forum.
Salisbury University (no longer referred to as Salisbury State) acheived Petitioning Group status on April 5! And their sponsor is one of the original charter Brothers who still lives in the area.
GO EXTENSION!!!

I still have Faith in Virginia State University. They are just having some set backs right now. I think they are for the most part good positive people with the desire to work hard for chartering.
