HC the guy who stars (forgot his name) looks DEAD-ON like TYRA BANKS when he's dressed up as a woman!
HC when I saw the previews, I thought it WAS Tyra Banks starring in the movie.
HC I will NOT be forking over my cash to see that mess.

The same folx who approved "Like Mike," that movie w/the rap singer whose hair reminds me of a girl's, when it is pressed out. Remember, a goodly part of the movie-going population is either 15 years old or has the mentality of a 15-year-old. It's so unseemly to see graying studio bosses make this kind of movie.

The guy's name is Miguel Nunez, and yes, he does look like Tyra Banks when dressed up as a woman! LOL
Anyway, I think I'll wait for it to come on cable. No sense in wasting 10 bucks on this flick

ANSWERS:
1. Miguel A. Nunez, Jr. (played on "Sparks") He DOES look like Tyra and even Vivica, co-stars.
2. Lil Bow Wow is in the other film.
Okay, Vivica seems to always wonder why sistas are not getting DECENT roles. I guess she just wants to keep her face "out there".

This movie disgusts me on a deep, philosophical level, lol.
WHy can't we have movies that feature rich, vibrant characters that reflect reality and the breadth of our culture and heritage? THe biggest "black" movies of the year so far are shaping up to be: Juwanna Man, Like Mike, Undercover Brother.
Where are our real stories??? If it's got to be a comedy, can't it be smart, with good writing? Does it always have to be a gimmick- the cute (well, ok that is WAY subjective) kid, the crossdresser, the wanna-be-pimp or Black Austin Powers?
Ugh.

Guess Who's Back!!!!
WEll, I have to admitt, I have seen Undercover brother, and it was pretty good. I think what has happened to this movie is that people miss the underlying satire. Unlike most of the hot mess that comes out with black folks in it, Undercover brother has a smart commentarry on what is really "soul" in 2002. It makes you laugh and makes you think. Back in the 70's, the Afro was a statement on consciousness and empowerment, now it's just a fashion statement, and then we brag about our culture being pop culture now, only to find that it is pop because it no longer has an empowerment component for black people. Hip Hop culture is no longer about black empowerment, and undercover brother brother hints at this, only if your are a critical watcher will you catch this.

I heard about this on the radio. I don't really see them together much in the paper or anything. You never really hear much about them. I wonder if it is really true??

Yeah, but
its true we have a limited amount of films and roles, that's in part because we are a minority (that's life) i don't take films like Juana Mann (whateva) seriously, its comedy, its satire, its entertainment, yeah should we portray positive role models, etc. etc. yeah, but there are plenty of stupid movies with non blacks in them and we don't beat them down (generally speaking) like we do our own films. How many of us went to see Water Boy or any Jim Carey films, it is what it is. because we have so few all black cast films we pick them apart more so then white films of the same genre, i say give the black actor a break, he or she has got to eat, and if this type of movie is what sells and it does more so than our dramas sadly, then so be it. our day is coming more and more black writers are getting a chance, more directors, but it takes time. let's be real Vivica is not getting the calls that Julia or J-Lo gets and you know that's true. talent often gets over looked when it comes to money. i love Julia and J-lo is decent, but Vivica is a great actress and its sad her blackness (imo) keeps her from the better roles. I guess one Halle (half white) is all Hollywood can take. oops.

But as many Adam Sandler movies that come out, there are always movies like American Beauty to counter them.
Spike Lee only makes a movie like, every three years. Shit like Juwanna Man gets produced on the regular.
There is no parity in representations of us- it seems like it's ALWAYS some sort of wacky sidekick, or sex comedy that focuses on booty.
Or crossdressing, lol.

That is a shock because the movie opened last Friday, right? Well, that Thursday, Vivica and Miguel Nunez were on "The View" and Star asked her about her husband and their life together. They imposed a picture on the screen of them all snuggled up. Vivica spoke of their relationship lovingly and everything. It could have been a tactic as to not let us know there were any problems, but why do that? Most actors/musicians/etc. usually inform talk shows about topics that should not be covered and will not discuss. Why would she set herself up like that? That just makes me wonder about how true the rumor is.
