What are the advantages of being in a sorority? I know that i can party, and have all the HOT guys i want. I think i am missing the real reason for joinning a sorority. WHat is it?

First, I have to ask: is your post serious? From reading some of the other forums, it should be apparent that the benefits of Greek membership go far beyond what you mention.
Some of those include an incredible support network, a great way to participate in service to your community and lifelong networks of sisters. Those don't come without your working for your sorority, though.
You may want to visit the national sites of the sororities which are on your campus. The background information there should give you a better appreciation of what I'm saying. Good luck!

No men or alcohol are allowed at NPC recruitment functions. If you are joining a sorority for the parties and the men, you are joining for the wrong reasons. If you make these goals clear to those that are interviewing you during recruitment, most likely you will be dropped.
Sorority life is, first and foremost, about friendship and love. Secondly, and equally as important, is a strong and supportive atmosphere of scholarship. Next will be opportunities to serve your community through philanthropy events. Leaders are perfected or made during college years and serving your chapter in an office or committee position will help you develope the leadership and maturity you need to succeed in the 'real world'. Read the creed or mission from any of the 26 National Panhellenic Conference member fraternities. You'll see that the words 'party', 'men',and 'fun' do not appear. For example, here is the creed of my fraternity, Zeta Tau Alpha. These are words we strive to live by every day and take them very much to heart:
To realize that within our grasp, in Zeta Tau Alpha, lies the opportunity to learn those things which will ever enrich and ennoble our lives; to be true to ourselves, to those within and without our circle; to think in terms of all mankind and our service in the world; to be steadfast, strong, and clean of heart and mind, remembering that since the thought is father to the deed, only that which we would have manifested in our experience should be entertained in thought; to find satisfaction in being, rather than seeming, thus strengthening in us the higher qualities of the spirit; to prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving, thereby earning the right to be served; to seek understanding that we might gain true wisdom; to look for the good in everyone; to see beauty, with its enriching influence; to be humble in success, and without bitterness in defeat; to have the welfare and harmony of the Fraternity at heart, striving ever to make our lives a symphony of high ideals, devotion to the right, the good, and the true, without a discordant note; remembering always that the foundation precept of Zeta Tau Alpha was love, "the greatest of all things."

The questions you have been asking are really upsetting to those who have done serious research about greek life and the recruitment process. The benefits of greek life vary between members but generally include friendships, experiences and connections that words cannot explain. It appears that you intend to rush for superficial reasons, perhaps you should reconsider rushing if it is just to meet hot guys and party. I can guarantee that most chapters won't even take on a plegde that can ruin their reputation on campus by getting drunk and acting promiscuous. Grow up in the remaing weeks before rush, or you won't be able to appreciate what greek life can provide. I understand this may be considered a little harsh, but it is people who cannot appreciate greek life that ruin it for others who are anxiously awaiting rush.

i can't believe this question came up...it's like a bad line from a sorority movie.
no, you can't have all the hot guys you want, because to tell you the truth, the greek men that i know who date greek women want greek women that stand for the values thier sorority put in place. meaning, they can see through you "i'm in a sororiy to get guys" act. so can the sisters you'll be rushing. i can give you a 100% guarantee that if you rush with that attitude, everyone who has any decision-maiking power will know and not only will you lok like a jerk, you'll get dropped from every house you rush. and then...oops...no more hot guys....

Wow! I never noticed before how similar our creeds are (I am an Alpha Chi Omega). Ours is called "The Symphony":
To see beauty even in the common things in life,
to shed the light of love and friendship round me;
to keep my life in tune with the world
that I shall make no discords in the harmony, of life;
to strike on the lyre of the universe
only the notes of happiness, of joy, of peace;
to appreciate every little service rendered;
to see and appreciate all that is noble in another, be her badge what it may,
and
to let my lyre send forth the chords of
love, unselfishness, sincerity.
This is to be my symphony.
