Legacy defined?

Hey all. I'm rushing this fall, and on the rush registration forms it was asked if I'm a legacy. The problem is, I'm not sure exactly how legacy is defined. My uncle (blood, not marriage if it matters,) is a Teke, pleged into a now inactive chapter. He's like a father to me; we're very close. Anyway, would this qualify toward legacy status? Is there such a thing as an indirect or partial legacy?

One other (unrelated) question. I'm technically a Junior at my university, but due to a change in majors I'm a sophomore in my program, i.e. I still have three years to go 'till I graduate including this coming. Will this be prohibitive toward my acceptance in a GLO?

I wasn't quite sure where this post belonged, so it has a twin over in the greek life forum.

Thanks,

J

As for your legacy question, I am not sure how to answer that. But for being older, most glo's really dont care. I know in my sorority chapter we have the habbit of taking girls who arent just freshman. We even have had members who are in their mid 20's as in around 25. So since you have 3 years left I wouldnt worry about that.

Every organization defines legacy differently. For some it has to be grandparents, parents of sibling. For others, they include uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Use the Search, play nice, and don't make me come in there.

Even though you may be related to a Teke, it won't help as a legacy, since you can't get a bid from them!
