Just a few thoughts off the top of my head:
- ensure that each member is involved in at least one other club/organization beside Alpha Gamma Delta - encourage members to regularly attend functions of other groups... by becoming friends and associating with non-affiliated women in a different environment, we can gain outstanding PR by getting our name and our members out there in front of others.
- wear letters as much as possible - and always look your best when doing so!
- meet up in groups on campus in visible areas for lunch/coffee (okay, maybe a smoothie since it's Arizona?
)/studying/etc.
- publicize EVERYTHING you do as a chapter to the campus and local newspaper - # of members on Dean's List; member who won an award or graduated with distinction; etc. By promoting your individual members' accomplishments you are receiving great publicity for Alpha Gamma Delta!
- send pictures (wearing letters!!!) into the campus newspaper along with your press releases
- if possible, encourage your sisters to get involved with reporting for the campus newspaper... I never knew I would enjoy journalism until a sister suggested that I check it out - I eventually became editor!
Having your sisters in a position like this will enable small blurbs to get in about Alpha Gamma Delta when space allows, or could enable you to get advertising space at a discounted rate.
- approach the unaffiliated student leaders on your campus - let them know of the immediate opportunities for leadership in a growing chapter. Flattery will get you everywhere!
("I admire all that you do for ASU and think that you would have a lot to give to Alpha Gamma Delta. I've been able to take on an office as Public Relations Coordinator recently, and it's giving me the greatest experience for my career!")
- get to know the smaller orgs and sports teams... invite them over for a pizza party after a game, or make pancakes for them the morning of a game... invite the campus newspaper to attend and take pictures of the event.
- mingle with other NPC groups on your campus as much as possible - if a group is already at quota/total and they run into a woman looking to 'go Greek,' we want AGD to be the first thing on their mind! Sometimes our greatest publicity can come from other NPC groups and Greek members. "Those Alpha Gams are such a great group! They're doing a lot on campus and are really growing - a friend of mine joined AGD and can't stop talking about the great time she's having!"
- have your Correspondence Coordinator send notes of congratulations and thanks to ANYONE and EVERYONE - using Alpha Gamma Delta letterhead or notecards. "Congratulations to the Lady Sundevil Basketball Team for an oustanding win over Some University!" "Thank you for all of the hard work you put into making recruitment at ASU a success!" Faculty and staff may display notes on their desks - great PR! Other Greek groups will read the notes at their meetings - wonderful! Sports teams will display notes in their locker room - awesome! This is a cheap and easy way to get our name out there...
Okay, gotta get back to work now, but if I think of others, I'll post!
