Driving Pet Peeves

When people don't stop on the white line and the back end of their car is five feet in front of it.

When people get in a minor accident (bumper-to-bumper) and they don't pull off to the side of the road.

When people talk on cell phones and don't realize that the light turned green 15 seconds ago.

When people try to pass you in a NO Passing Zone.

Tailgating and them giving me the finger when I hit my brakes to get them to back off!!

I'm sure I'll think of more...this is just stuff that has happened to me today!

I hate it when ppl change lanes and don't turn off their blinkers.

I can't stand people who don't realize that it's green and they're on even on their cell phones.

People who don't put their blinkers on when they change lanes.

Traffic!

Inconsistent drivers. They'll go really fast and 30 seconds later they'll go really slow and 30 seconds later they'll go fast again. And they don't have a radar detector...they're just really bad drivers.

When people need to change lanes and they'll sit there and and block a whole lane until it's safe for them to switch over. Hello?!?!?! Just make a U-Turn and come back around. You'll kill yourself and everyone else by stopping in the middle of traffic!

Tailgaters...especially those people in big SUV's who tailgate.

Slow drivers.

People who take FOREVER to make a turn.

People who cut you off or turn onto the road right in front of you and go really slow. Couldn't you have waited until I passed by you?

*When I'm passenger and the driver tail-gates the car in front of us, like at 70 mph. That is SOOO dangerous.

*Those in bicycles, please use the sidewalk!

*Driving pathetically slow, on a one lane street, where I can't pass them. I admit I've done that before, even on purpose just to piss off the people behind me.

*Brake spazzes.

*Trucks and buses. Nuff said. They need separated roads for themselves!

I could go on all day!!

Tailgaters are my #1 pet peeve... especially when I'm in the middle lane and the left lane is clear.

If I'm in the left lane and someone wants to pass me, if they're polite about it (i.e. they don't get too close, just close enough that it's clear they want to pass) I will move into the next lane and let them pass, but if they hang 2 inches off my back bumper at 80mph flashing their high beams and giving me the finger, they can just forget it.

I hate being stuck behind people who drive really slowly... especially if they speed up as soon as they get to a passing zone so that I can't pass them.

People on cell phones (other than hands-free units). Hang up and drive!!

People who cut you off and then go slow.

People who pull out of parking spots without looking, or change lanes without checking their mirrors and blind spots.

GARBAGE TRUCKS. Garbage truck drivers think that they can ignore all rules of the road and drive wherever they want to, whenever they want to, simply because their vehicle is larger than almost anything else on the road. (Sadly, they're right.

People who don't stop at stop signs, particularly if there is already a car in the intersection. More than once, I have nearly been creamed by some @$$hole who didn't think "stop" applied to him.

People who don't use turn signals, or who put their turn signals on and then go straight - "Surprise!"

People who don't realize that a right turn on red is legal in most places, and sit there until the light turns green... and people who don't realize that a green arrow means you can go in the direction of the arrow even if the main light is red.

EXACTLY! IMO I think all truck (and some bus) drivers have that attitude. *After totally smashing a car* They are like, "What was that little bump? I think that may have been a car, oh well." *Keeps on driving*

Miami.

In Miami the cops won't pull you over for teeny infractions, most of the time. Upside: Speed as much as you want (as long as there's no traffic, but there's always traffic) and cut off as many people as you want (but be prepared to flick and be flicked...have baseball bat ready at passenger seat.) Downside: Because of the upside, everyone drives like jerks. What's that? You're half a millisecond late in jumping when the light changes? The guy behind you gets horn-happy. What's that? Oh, no, no need for signaling or using blinkers! Just surprise me by cutting me off or waste my time by making me wait for you to pass when you had been planning on turning!!

ps: Don't get me wrong, I love Miami. I would just love it more if I had a chauffeur.

People who drive Ford Taruses. 99% of the people who drive them around here are TERRIBLE drivers. My favorite is the girl that was tailgating me while driving with her knees because she was putting her hair up in a ponytail.

People who drive 50 foot long RVs and THEN tow a car behind it. Look, if you're going to truck around in one of those things, then you should just have to pay the consequences and drive it EVERYWHERE.

People who tailgate and just get closer to me when I pump my break to tell them to back off. Hello, if you can see the hair on the back of my neck, you're too damn close!

Mississippi drivers. I used to live about 10 min from the state line. They'd come to my town to cause accidents all the time. Pretty much everyone I know that's been hit in that town has been hit by a MS driver. I think a requirement for getting a license there is FAILING the driver's test. And not having a full set of teeth. Or insurance.

People who pull out in front of you and then proceed to drive 20 mph below the speed limit. What pisses me off even more is when there is no one behind me and they could have waited two seconds to pull out...BASTARDS!!!

Me and one of my sisters were driving around last night (Fri) going to McD's for Ice Cream, when as I was driving this idiot pulled out directly in front of me from the right to go through the median to turn on the other street - he had a STOP sign and I don't even know how we didn't wreck, luckily I was going the speed limit and hit my brakes as fast as I could. When he pulled out he just drove sooo slowly to the median. It was some scary sh*t, bc it would've been a bad wreck. Air bags and all.

I hate dumb drivers

People in Buicks 99.999% of the time when I am behind someone who is either going waaaay below the speed limit or has been driving with their turn signal blinking for a mile and a half, that car is a Buick. I don't know why this is, but I swear before all of you that I will NEVER own one of those things. Maybe brain cell-reducing emissions come out of the air vents???

People Who Always Have to Back into Parking Spaces Most of these offenders are pickup truck drivers for some reason. They hold up parking lot traffic while they back into a space and half the time they have to try two or three times before they're squarely between the lines. This brings me to peeve number three...

People Who Can't Park Properly These are the folks who park over the parking space line or right on it. And of course there are the people who take up two spots because they don't want anyone parking next to their precious souped-up Civic

actually, riding a bike on the side walk is illegal in many places if you are over a certain age. i think it's 12 or 14.

in NYC, you will get fined if you are on the sidewalk. they just had a big article in the daily news last week about how they are cracking down because it is so dangerous to pedestrians

* People who don't signal and then slam on their breaks like they are purposely trying to cause an accident!

* People who cut you off and then have the nerve to slow down

* People who take fifteen minutes just to pull into the turn lane

* People who are changing lanes that drive in the center of the two lanes for ten minutes before actually moving into the other lane

* People that think a yield sign means "don't bother to look, just fly around that corner...you own the roads!"
