The Important Role of Fathers in Educating Children Fathers, if this were a test, would you pass?
1) Do you consider the education of your child the mother's responsibility?
2) Do you take your child to school on the first day of the new school year and pick-up his or her report card during the year?
3) Do you meet and stay in contact with your child's teacher?
4) Do you know that your child has a nutritious meal before he or she goes to school?
5) Do you know that your child has all of his or her inoculations? Has your child had recent vision, hearing and health screenings?
6) Do you read with your child or to your child?
7) Do you help your child develop good study habits and time management skills?
8) Do you review your child's homework every evening?
9) Do you provide all the materials, equipment, books and support that your child needs to succeed in school?
10) Have you run for the Local School Council or do you serve on the Parent Teacher Association?
11) Do you volunteer time at your child's school?
12) Do you spend quality time with your child in the evening or on weekends outside of school?
The answer to question 1 is no. The answer to the other questions is yes. There are no "maybe" or "in between" answers. If you did not answer all 12 of these questions correctly, than you have work to do to become a better father for your child.
