Arrow "The Sum of All Jeers"

Okay, I just went to a free preview of "The Sum of All Fears" (should be called ""The Sum of All Jeers"" or "The Sum of All Sneers") and let's just say, I am glad that I had free tickets.

I was bored and yawning away....zzzzzz And the plot...puh-leeze!

Being a Tom Clancy book nut, i was going to see it. Was it just that bad. Was it closely based on the book, or just totally lost, plot-wise? I have to know!!!!!

About the only good movies Ben Affleck has ever been in and not sucked are the Kevin Smith movies. He should really stick to comedy because the man is just funny!

He was the only reason to see Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back for Pete's sake! (OK, him and Jason Lee)

Right after I saw the preview for this movie, I knew I wanted to see it because it looked suspenseful and Ben Affleck is in it. I also thought it was pretty good and lived up to my expectations. Plus, I think Morgan Freeman is a great actor so I wasn't too disappointed with the film.

My dad said that they book and the movie are supposedly not the same. He reads Tom Clancy books and has read TSOAF and he said that in the book a nuke is accidentally dropped unarmed somewhere in the middle east (unarmed...can't go off, so it didn't explode). Anyhow after some time, these middle eastern terrorists find it in a field and use the parts to make a portable nuclear bomb. They then take it to the superbowl in Denver I think (in the Movie it is Baltimore right?) and it explodes. I think that in the movie the guy that does it is Russian. In the book, the US thinks that since it was nuclear, that they have been bombed by Russia and so they nuke them. Then Russia is all like, Uh, I don't think so, that was not us... and they retaliate or something. Correct me if I am wrong as I have neither read the book, nor seen the movie.

Actually, I thought I got my $8 worth.

I went to go see it with the Junior Circle gals and I could tell that they enjoyed it too. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time! Kinda makes you wonder what would happen if something like that would happen in real life.

DZS, your dad's account is true; that is what happened in the book. If the movie deviated that much from the original book, I'd rather not see it. I am purist when it comes to movies modelled after books.

actually...the book takes place in baltimore...as does the the explosion in the movie. i saw the movie and really liked it, but my dad said that it doesnt follow the book except for the main idea. the only thing i didnt like about the movie was watching my home town be blown up by a nuclear weapon...alittle disturbing!

Oh, I bet!

I thought it was a good movie. Just got back from seeing it. A few plot points where I was wha?!?!? but overall it was good. pretty suspensful. Also the cinematography was pretty good. But being a red-blodded american male I go for those stupid action flicts. I'll admit, I liked Armageddon. Sue me.

I saw the movie yesterday and I thought it was really good. I thought I got my moneys worth. And actually I have read the book too an I think that the Movie was better than the book so i guess it just depends on the person.

I read the book and saaw the movie and am a HUGE Tom Clancy fan. I thought that the movie was better than the book b/c it was more interesting (and I am never one who says that). Quite honestly, TSOAF was not one of Clancy's better books.

The reason that the movie deviates from the book is that in the book, Jack Ryan is further along in his career (DO of CIA, I think, or something like that). They originally intended to have Harrison Ford (I think -- or someone in that age bracket) play Jack Ryan but he turned it down. Then Ben Affleck expressed interest in playing the role and the filmmakers thought he'd be right so they rewrote the part making it all happen in the beginning of Ryan's career. The Denver v. Maryland thing was another change in terms of the location of the blowup.

I think the movie was worth every penny I paid to see it. I highly recommend going to see it!

Wink I loved it!

Ok, so I just got back a little while ago from seeing this movie and I absolutely LOVED it. I hadn't heard anything about it nor had I seen any previews for it, but my friend David wanted to see it and I went along. First treat was seeing Morgan Freeman, I LOVE HIM, he is one of my favorite actors. Next treat was OF COURSE Ben Affleck, that man is so hot, I had to take my jacket off while watching the movie. Ok, well not really, but you get my drift. Anyway, all that aside, I thought the movie itself was really good. A little boring at times yes, but overall, very good. And I am usually a sappy romance movie kinda gal, so I was surprised when I liked this. This is actually a movie my Dad would love and when I thought about that, I got a little homesick for a minute. Hah, ok anyway...bottom line, go see it if you're curious, I promise it's good. Or else just download it on the internet and watch it that way! Bye yall!
