Keeping Contact in Summer

Do you see your GLO brother/sisters/friends during the summer, or disappear until the next semester?

At social events and service projects, otherwise no. We go our separate ways, unfortunately.

I see my sisters pretty often. At Rush Workshops, we plan informal sisterhood get togethers, like going to the beach or swimming together. And we always go out on the town every week. Some leave for a while but come back and catch up with everyone.

My sisters and I are from all over Florida, so it's hard to make plans to meet up. We keep saying "Road trip!" but we all have summer classes and some also have work, so it's too hard...we still keep in touch with phone calls, ims and emails, though, and I figure we're going to see soooo much of each other in the fall anyway, what with living in the house, having classes together, dinners and chapters and going out all the time. Maybe it's better this way! LOL, jk, I love them and miss them to death!

We have a summer party, and try to come back to bowling green some times just to visit. The party is official and planned. the visits are a little harder to fit in.

We're pretty good about keeping in touch over the summer. In fact, I'm meeting up with some this weekend for dinner and a movie!

I have some classes with my sisters so we all get together and study. A bunch of us will also go out one night to catch up.
We also have recruitment workshops during the summer which keeps everyone updated on what is going on within the sorority.

That's one beauty of having Informal summer rush...we have about 6 events, along with weekly barbeques at the house during the summer. It's only unfortunate if you happen to live or work someplace too far away to make it to the rush events...like me who is working 6 hours away from campus, or my pledge brother who is from Seattle.

Also most of the guys in my house are from Omaha anyways so they always hang out during breaks. Also usually the summer after your sophomore year you begin to stay in Lincoln for the summer rather than going home, and everyone stays in town the summer after junior year.

The last week of the semester we print up a summer phone list. It makes it easy to keep in touch.

Most of my sisters live in the PA/NJ area so being in Orlando it's pretty hard to see them. Thanks to the wonders of email and IM tho we keep in touch. A bunch of girls all live in the same area around school and I know they have various get-togethers during the summer. And of course we have a summer contact list for post cards and reminders of b-days. We also use an email through yahoogroups so we can email everyone by just using one email. It's hard tho being so far away...I realize how much they are part of my life when they aren't around to have stupid crazy fun with.

While our chapter has members from across Canada, the majority live in the Greater Vanc Area. We hold summer meetings once a month - good time for recruitment workshops, and hold at least 1-2 sisterhood events a month. On top of that if people are celebrating a birthday, going out, etc. we send invites out to everyone. Also we try and go camping.

About half our chapter stays at school for summer session since its a FL rule that all students must attend 9 summer hours at a state Univ in FL. The rest try to come up and visit once or twice over the summer though. But for the most part we keep in contact via IM's, phone calls etc. The officers use yahoogroups to e-mail each other stuff about rush, chapter ops etc.

We have a summer picnic at one of the sisters' houses. I have never been able to go since I live so far away from the rest of them and never had a car. Now I do though, so I can't wait for it! I know that most of my sisters live within an hour or two of eachother, so they go to movies, shop and do other things together. I really miss hanging out with them---I'm SOOO bored right now!

Summer's great. During the year it's all formal, we have weekly meetings, etc... During the Summer we just drive random places with bro's, hang out, party, whatever.

I love the Summer

Too bad I go back to Summer School on the 3rd.

Fortunately most of my sisters are here! YEAH! So it makes seeing them so much easier, but for the ones that arent I have instant messenger, email and two phone numbers we can use to get ahold of people! In fact this weekend I went to the Indy 500 with two of my sisters that I didnt really know very well, but since one of them lives really close to the track 3 of us came and stayed saturday night with her and went to the race sunday morning! I also see my 2 bestest friends from theta almost everyday! Which makes me so happy, and the others I usually talk to on the computer so I have no problem keeping in touch with them. It is so great being so close to all 60 of my sisters!
