Hmmmm....how in-tuh-resting....
That Alaska show sounds a bit like Temptation Island, in that the women can pick men to go on dates with, rather than 25 women fighting over one dude a la "The Bachelor"
Five women from the "Lower 48" states who want to get married travel to Alaska in the search for Mr. Right.
Alaska, a bastion of wilderness and natural beauty, is the home to rugged single men who far outnumber the local women. All of the bachelors featured in the series are in love with their lives, but are longing for someone to marry.
The bachelorettes arrive on the chilly shores of Promise Lake in a remote part of Alaska, united by their search for love. Yet, the women are competitors who may be vying for the affections of the same man. The women make the first move when they each select a bachelor based on first physical impressions and romantic intuition. He becomes her "Man on Ice." From there, the women get to know their first selections and have the chance to continue those relationships or explore new ones with new men.
Every episode reaches a climax at Proposal Point. It is here where the new men will make their heartfelt pleas to the women of their choice in hopes of continuing to be considered as a potential mate. Each woman must decide whether she wants to reaffirm her connection with her "Man on Ice" or replace him with one of the new men.
During the search for true love, days will be spent on dates snow shoeing, dog sledding and hiking. The nights will be considerably warmer for the couples, as they dine by candlelight, snuggle by the fire and take midnight dips in the jacuzzi.
By the end of the series, the women find themselves at Promise Lake once again -- only this time they stand in wedding dresses -- where the men have the opportunity to propose marriage. The ultimate decision is up to the women.
