West Georgia Rush
Hi Everyone,
I have a question concerning rush at State University of West Georgia. I'll be transferring in the fall and want to rush. I've checked out the school's website, as well as each sorority and franternity's website. At this point, I'd really appreciate any other information people have concerning the Greek system. What are the reputations of each sorority? Are some particularly active in philanthropy or on cmapus? If you are a member, are you happy with your choice? Any comments would really help me out. I'm already biased toward tri-delt, as I have family and friend connections, but I wouldn't want to overlook a great sorority because I didn't have enough info. Thanks so much! --Molly*

I hear the Alpha Gamma Delta chapter is a good chapter there. You might want to Private Message AGDLynn on these board to give you more information about it. There is also Tri- Delta, Kappa Delta, Chi Omega, Alpha Xi Delta and Phi Mu.
Also go to www.westga.edu for more info.

If you haven't done so already, one place to start is the greek life page for State Univ. of West Georgia.
Here's the link: http://www.westga.edu/~stuacts/greeks/
You'll also want to visit the web pages for each of the national orginations. You can get to each one from the NPC web page: http://www.npcwomen.org/memorg.htm
Good luck

Alumna Contacts
Hi. I just wanted to say that I am unsure about what contact an alumna can have with a PMN. I didn't want my chapter to get penalized for something I did.
I found the following note on the Atlanta Panhellenic website http://atl-panhel.home.mindspring.com/index.htm based on NPC policy:
NEW INFORMATION ON SUMMER CONTACT: Some campuses have very strict rules regarding summer contact between sorority members and incoming students. These rules will be printed in the college sorority handbook that you receive in the summer. Generally, no sorority women from a specific college may call, write, or entertain any girls registered for recruitment at that college. No sorority alumnae may have any form of contact with a girl or her family members. The only acceptable summer contact will be group parties sponsored by Alumnae Panhellenic organizations. These rules are made to prevent "dirty rushing" which gives unfair advantages and raises false hopes for sororities and potential new members.
If I find out anything new, I will let you know.

I do not think you would be penalized for just telling a woman about Alpha Gamma Delta and the chapter at the college she is interested in. You just cannot help with the recruitment process.

These days, things are soo structured, I thought I'd better ask.
I was at a Panhellenic seminar for h.s. seniors and their moms and we couldn't tell them what sorority we were in, even though some of us were wearing our badges/pins.
BTW, any PNM in the Atlanta area might want to check out the Atlanta website shown above about submitting an info sheet. The deadline is June 15th.

West Georgia Update
Just wanted to let you know the great reply I got!
"Thank you for your email. According to West Georgia's recruitment rules, alumnae, along with current members, are responsible for all of the recruitment rules. The recruitment rules includes the Closed Contact policy, which states:
From the conclusion of the Spring Semester preceding Fall Semester until Fall Formal Membership Selection ends on Bid Day, all sororities shall follow the closed contact policy. Closed contact shall be defined as conversation between individual sorority members and potential members which shall be limited to Recruitment events and simple recognition of potential
members outside these events. Violations of this definition shall include, but not limited to, blatant contact with potential members, inviting potential members to visit member houses, apartments or chapter hall, extended conversation outside of recruitment events and related contact.
The woman who contacted you is probably best advised to contact the Atlanta Panhellenic or she can call me at 770-836-6526 or email me.
Thank you very much for checking into this!
Sincerely,
Eileen Grana

Lynn,
Thank you for your help! I guess I'll just wait and see when I get there.
