Question Which Founder Would You Like to Meet?

I borrowed this topic from the Delta Sigma Theta forum...It is an excellent question. If you had the opportunity to meet and talk to the Founders, who would you want to meet and what would you say or ask her?

I would want to meet Emily Butterfield. She was such a pioneer, and I really think that she was a renaissance woman with so many talents in so many areas. I would ask her where she got her inspiration for the Purpose, and why she had such an interest in heraldry.

And I'd ask what--for me--is a $64,000 question. I've always been curious as to *which* NPC we turned down when they offered to make our Alpha their Epsilon chapter in 1905. My history doesn't say.

I've narrowed it down to a few, and I have my suspicions...I would just like to know which one it was!

Thumbs up

Since I think a lot of people will say Emily Helen Butterfield, I'm going to go with Jennie Titus Smith Morris. I would want to know what it was like to be president of an up-and-coming organization and how things worked back then. Ethel Brown Distin might also be interesting! I would ask her about how she went about establishing Beta chapter.

Orginally posted at 12:30pm but didnt work for some odd reason...

Hmmm... this is kind of a difficult choice. I think most people would say Emily Helen Butterfield, just b/c of all the work that she did in the sorority.Besides Emily Helen Butterfield, I would have to say a tie between Estelle Shepard Beswick and Grace Mosher Harter, just because from everything we have learned about them, I think that I share many of their characteristics.

My two questions:
Ms. Mosher Harter- What were those weekend parties really like at your house?

General: What was the inspiriation for starting the sorority(i.e why do we have the colors we do etc.)? Why did you choose it, instead of the other available ones at SU? And since our sorority was founded around the time of the women's movement, was any of that instilled in our Purpose.

I want to know who we turned down also, but like Nina said... I am glad we did. It shouldnt be to hard to figure out though.I have it narrowed down to about 5, but im thiking a certain 3.

i'd prolly have to go with asking 'bout how they even started beta chapter. that 'prolly wouldn't have been easy. especially in that time.
