It depends on who you ask. Some people base their hype on the interracial relationship between Halle Berry's character and Billy Bob Thornton's character. Others base it on Halle's subtle yet powerful performance. Still others base it on that much addresssed sex scene between the two actors. I will say that the movie forced me to challenge all my predisposed notions of how movies are supposed to flow, and how Hollywood movies are supposed to wrap up into these neat, unchallenging little happy endings.
I can't say whether you'll enjoy the movie, but I will say that you have to go into it with an open mind, or you won't come away with anything other than anger and disbelief.
