Lightbulb Sad Story, Powerful Message

This Sunday past I was struggling to finish a take home exam. I phoned work telling them that I would be late. When I talked to my manager she wasn't even phased that I told her I was coming in 3 hours late.

"I'm just glad your coming" she said "no one wanted to come to work today."

When I asked her why she took a deep breath and told me that my twenty year old co-worker was found dead that morning. She apparently died in her sleep after overdosing on E. Her boyfriend heard her making strange sounds in her sleep and when he tried to wake her she just lay limp in his arms. Thinking that she was sleeping heavily due to a night of clubbing he laid her back down and went to sleep. When he woke up, her body had already gone cold. Her heart had stopped beating.

I'm asking everyone here that knows someone that does this drug (or any like it) to please....please...try to discourage them. Today they buried a girl that was just starting her life. She was absolutely stunning, and today a hundred people walked past her casket saying that she looked like an angel that was sleeping. But she's not ever going to wake up.

Like all of us, I know many people that are habitual recreational drug users. However the death of my co-worker proves that you never know how your body is going to take a drug. I know I sound like a school teacher or anxious parent, but I don't want any of you to go through what my co-workers family and friends are. E is not a 'white people drug' like some say. There are quite a few black clubs in my area were you can sell or buy it easily and once it is in your system it doesn't care what color you are. Life is beautiful. Don't gamble with it.

Please pray for her family.

Thank you.

I will difinitely pray for her family and all of her loved ones in this difficult time. I have a question, excuse the naivete, but exactly what is E. I have heard of X, acid, weed, and of course cocaine and such but never anything remotely similiar to E. I just asked because you said it was a club drug and most of the veiwers to this board visit if not frequent clubs and I firmly believe education is the best prevention in situations like this. Thanks to anyone who can help.

'E' stands for Ecstasy.

Actually, I believe I said it was know to be a "white people" drug. I just mentioned clubs because many of them are known to be drug markets. You bring it, we buy it sort of thing. But I know quite a few people at my HBC that use Ecstasy on a weekly basis who "roll" but don't attend clubs or even parties.

I'm sorry for the loss of your coworker. On an episode of Oprah (about 2 months ago), they were trying to convince a young lady to quit taking it. They showed her an xray of a normal brain, and one of an ecstasy user. The user's brain had holes in it! To me ( a non user) it was horrifying, but she said it wouldn't convince her to stop. They finally had to ask her would she stop if they showed her and xray of her brain.

Unhappy

"X" is another street term for Ecstasy, or E. I have some friends in HS who used it a lot, and they'll probably never be the same.

Red face E is not just for "white people!"

Several college classmates of mine (I went to an HBCU) laced weed with E or LSD or other drugs of the same type.

One girl had a mental breakdown and is now in a psychiatric care ward at a mental hospital.

Yeah I've heard of that too. Some people are sick and have no regard to other people's health. And blacks people often say that if they stick to weed it'll be ok. I guess I don't have to tell you about that theory.

My prayers are with her loved ones, your co-workers, and yourself. Your message is a great reminder to people out there who might be experimenting with any kind of drug...or thinking about it.
My parents do not believe that I went through high school, and college and never came into contact with drugs. But I havent - I was always too much of a chicken to try anything - and honestly didnt really know anyone who did drugs.
There was a pretty good movie on MTV called "wasted" that was based on a true story in Texas - it really really scared me to see how these kids were experimenting and dying
