Summer Rush
I was just wanting to know what other chapters are doing so far with summer rush? I was kinda wanting to see if my chapter is up to par. We're working our asses off for a killer fall rush this fall and I was wanting to hear how we're doing compared to some other chapters and maybe gather and exchange ideas.
RUSH IS EVERYDAY!!!!

well, this is still in the works, but we're planning on starting the triangle initiative at my chapter. we're in stage one right now, setting up the scholarship, but hopefully by next year we'll be recruiting the creme-de-la-creme of the incoming freshman class. we almost doubled our chapter size last year, so the pressure is on to improve our rush numbers this year.

Congratulations to your chapter for doubling its numbers! Mad props for that. I assume that you were talking about the Triangle Achievement program (you said Initiative I believe). The key thing with that is you have to get to work EARLY. You can't put it off until the last minute. I am speaking solely from experience. It can be helpful to start sending information about it to high schools whose graduates are most likely to come to your university. Start with them early and try to attend their college nights if at all possible. From there start sending out letters to the guidance counselors of area high schools. If they're doing their jobs then the seniors will hear about it.
On top of all that something I'm working on here for our rush is to become active with after school programs. Not only is it good for community service, but it can be beneficial in future recruitment. You don't have to announce that you're a Teke, but after a while you can slyly introduce it. To become a good rusher you need to be a good role model. It will help tremendously.

Things taht help summer rush
I sent out a letter through the TKE B.S. account, about how helping the soroitys with rush set up can improve your P.R. with them and alot of the campus......This can also help with rush because they recruit thier younger brothers for TKE, and also tell thier boyfriends they like us the most, and encourage them to go TKE. Also give the new sorority girls Red Carnations and welcome them into Greek life.......they love that......Blaise MZ 894
PS other things to do is Coach thier basketball and football teams, and set up community service projects with them. Also help them with songfest back drops or whatever they ever need help with.....al of this goes a long way with your relations with them. and that is always a good thing to have good relations with them. Also send them cards when they have thier founding days, and send your faculty and administration get well cards, and birthday cards....they love it...........Blaise

definitely, have girls, guys will follow. for us it was a catch 22. we got our numbers up and all the sudden the sororities were on our jock. now that we're hanging w/ the girlies all the time, the guys are banging down the door to get in. of course, this all happened after i graduated!

I feel ya
We had that situation, but when I first joined it was hard to get any decent sorority chicks to come to our parties and do things with us........So we just kept killing them with kindness, and recruiting the good guys we knew.......Then they all came running.......It makes it really easy to rush now....But we have to keep our gaurd up! As far as that triangle achievment thing it looks really good if you have a house to hold it in, plus we are doing fine with hwat we are doing, but I could see larger Universitys and chapters with houses using that model very well! So good luck with all yalls rush..............Blaise

Ah, Summer Rush - glad to hear that some chapters are giving it a try. I discovered the merits of starting early many, many years ago (by accident, accuatally) and found that having 15 pledges during the summer was a darn good way to get 30 for the Fall rather then wait until Formal Rush begins and take what's "left over".

Additional Thougghts on Summer Rush:
(1) There are students going to summer school - stuck in those dorms all summer with nothing to do. Rush Them now!
(2) For those back at home working for the summer - give them some guys to contact and rush in their hometown (you can get list from Registrar's Office or IFC)
Just my two cents worth.
